In chemical nomenclature, the IUPAC nomenclature of organic chemistry is a method of naming organic chemical compounds as recommended by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC).In organic chemistry, hydrocarbons are divided into two classes: aromatic compounds and aliphatic compounds. Aliphatic compounds are composed of straight-chained, branched, or cyclic compounds and can be saturated (alkanes) or unsaturated (alkenes, alkynes, and others), whereas aromatic compounds have one or more conjugated, benzene or heterocyclic rings within their structures. According to this name of compound consist of 3 parts that is:Prefix Word Root Suffix.Suffix two types:- 1. Primary (Indicates the bond) 2. Secondary (Indicates the functional group) Primary Suffix Indicate the type of bond between Carbon atoms like Single Bond(ane) Double Bond(ene) Triple Bond(yne) If two or three double or triple bond or present so, they are named as di, tri, tert etc. Secondary suffix Indicate the functional group.Prefix specifies the alkyl group. If more than two functional groups are present, than one is treated as main functional group and other as substituent. The prefix used for functional groups are F,Cl,Br etc. Aromatic compounds are those chemical compounds (most commonly organic) that contain one or more rings with pi electrons delocalized all the way around them. The configuration of six carbon atoms in aromatic compounds is called a "benzene ring", after the simple aromatic compound benzene, or a phenyl group when part of a larger compound.
