What I don’t like is kicking team used to be able to recover kicks legally that went beyond restraining line at anytime. They can’t do that now.

This is sick limits high speed collisions for CTE, opens opportunities for more intelligent plays on special teams, and will put more big name skill players as returners 🤯 excited to see it.

I like the new setup actually. Include an allowable forward pass by the receiver and watch how exciting a kickoff can get.

So if the kickoff spot is the same, why not just kick it through the end zone? It only comes back the 25, no big chance for a runback. Being closer doesn't do much to help your team, if you can't get a return. Move the kickoff back to the 25, you'll get more chances at a run back. I don't know how far they should be apart, but most kickers today can boot it off the tee 70+ yards. How about you can't kick it into the end zone, but must put it in play inside the red zone instead, causing more actual plays?

I thought the NFL wanted fewer returns as part of its effort to reduce incidents of CTE and high collision level injuries.

The only change should have been, Is the assault punch the ball out. Dirty teams were getting away making plays.

NFL has to quit changing the rules like the new kick off rule is terrible who ever comes up with these the kick offs were exciting now they are boring.
