Jon Bon Jovi | Opening Up about his vocals | Los Angeles 2024

At the PollStar interview, Jon spoke more openly about the ordeal he went (and is still going) through with his vocals and what caused it from a medical point of view. This is something that had kept the fans wondering for a decade now and I respect him a lot for openly addressing it. Fingers crossed he can back to a decent level since he (in another part of the interview) clearly said: "if I can't be great, I'm out." Simply saying: if he can't get back to a level he'll be satisfied with, they won't tour again.
Full credits to Ama Ya (artistascreativos_aci) for recording and sharing the video on IG. Thank you!
Video was zoomed in and cleared up in post-production as was the audio to make these important sentences more audible.

This channel is now also on Instagram!
Feel free to follow for updates and discussions :)

Also make sure to check out the new website dedicated to Bon Jovi Tours that a friend and I are working on:
It's steadily growing and includes a lot of background info and trivia on the albums as well as a lot of setlists (older tours are still under construction, but constantly added).

At least, the good news is that he was not in denial all this time. I hope he can recover to a level he is satisfied with. We need him.

I think that many Bon Jovi fans, me included, have been hoping for something like this for years. This helps us to empathize better with Jon and the struggle he has been facing for a decade, since the late BWC tour.

I hope he has a graceful recovery, and if he and the band decide so, can give us fans more moments of joy. He’s been a fighter, and because of that, has kept my admiration.

Now, in another note, I’d love that he and Richie opened like this respect to the latter’s departure.

From the mid 80s thru mid 2000s, Bon Jovi was one of if not the best live shows you could see. Jon's vocals were always good live and the band was so tight. The These Days tour was when they were at their absolute peak. Go watch the concert at Wembley in 1995 . Simply awesome.

That explains why he didn't lose tempo and sounded better last week. This implant plus rehab and what seems to be the help from a vocal coach are definitely showing good improvements, I am very proud of Jon for openly addressing this and that he is not giving up, he is putting an effort to recover and get back on the road.

FINALLY he came out publicly about that.

Finally somebody has the balls to ask JON a very important question.
Thank you very much, to the gentleman who asked the question about JON's singing voice.

That sucks he went through that but now he’s getting help which is a good sign so at least he can sing halfway decent like in 2017 he sounded reasonably in tune and key when he did the songs live recently

He could have just walked away retired has plenty of money for multiple lifetimes but at his age he chose to have surgery and is trying to get back what he lost ultimate respect for that

Since 2019 when i started to realize what was going on with jon's voice i've been wondering why and how... i was very young and i was very emotionally involved in these questions. Lately i've noticed that i was finally getting used to jon's situation, but i've always hoped that one day at least we would have heard something from him. Now... i will Watch the video... 🤞

Edit:

I've seen the video. Man, that's what i've always hoped for. He told us what happened, he told us what we can expect and he told us what he's doing. That's an huge turning point because now my hopes about his recover are based on something other than a dream.

Thank you for this upload, it means a lot to me.

Edit 2:
I've read the description and that's quite scary. Basically Or he gets better for real, or it's the end...

That explains why his voice is the way it is vocally 😢

Well if he can get back at least to his 2013 from…that would be amazing. An improvement is quite obvious if you listen to his performance in october last year where he could hardly sing and compare it to musicares where he seemed to be in time and not to struggle that much. Let’s hope better results are yet to come :)

I'm sure that he's on the right track, and they probably have dates set aside towards the end of the year for a tour based on what Phil X said in one of the podcasts he was on last month. He said he had the schedule for the year so he could plan his other things out and set aside time for his family. All I could think is that if Jon's voice gets to where he's comfortable with for live shows within a certain time he'll green light the announcement of the tour and if not he'll postpone until his voice is better. I do believe it will keep improving and we'll see them live again.

I've been out with it for Jon for quite some time. For a while, I thought he would only need to take a much needed rest to hopefully rejuvenate his voice back and maybe just bring Richie back to help him rest in between setlists. But to hear what he's going through had really put things into perspective. I'm hoping for the best, Jon! I'm still thankful for the last few years even with the struggles getting more apparent. To see this man still going for it and give us entertainment has been remarkable!

When you see all those big achievements like “3500 concerts played for 40 million people”, yeah well, this is the result. The guy gave it all, every night he had to give it. His and their last peak was 2010/2011. The band was on fire during that tour. Then 2013 came and all the shitstorm we know. The guy wanted to carry on the band. honoring the commitments with their fans. That took a toll as well. It’s been downhill since then with some decent moments in 2017 but getting worse in every subsequent leg of the THINFS Tour. 2022 was a mess. Glad he sought help and is taking care of this. Hopefully he’ll get better and will feel confortable up on a stage again, doing the thing he loves to do ❤

Fair play to the guy for finally opening up on it - I am quite saddened by his new voice and alongside the formulaic songwriting it's really put me off listening to 2020s Jon sing 1990s Jovi songs.

His timeline doesn't add up with the decisions he's made in regards to touring and such. Surely he's had several inspections before and after every tour to see how his voice was doing? Why continue?
