Best tip I can possibly give, whether you get overstimulated, have hearing issues, have a headache or whatever, is to call ahead to a restaurant to reserve your seats and then specifically ask for a quite place in a corner or someplace in the back. My dad has cluster's headaches and we've been doing this for years and it honestly helps so much.

I'm 24. I'm pretty much just now figuring out that I'm not just a shitty person but have something real going on with me. Basically I don't just get cranky for no reason. These all sound like great tips.

I don't plan ahead. I just suffer in silence and then die when I'm home.

I don’t plan ahead and end up sweaty, anxious, starving, nauseous and read to go home as soon as I get there 😭 I’ve never thought to call ahead and ask for accommodations for my adhd and sensory processing…I have crown anxiety and claustrophobia on top of adhd soooo idk why I haven’t done this

I can't walk out of the house without water, snacks, a selection of medicine like benadryl and Tylenol plus my daily prescription, sunglasses, ear plugs, gum, and a sweater. If it's sunny, also a hat. Snacks include a sweet and a salty ideally nuts, too. I wear the ear plugs on public transport and through construction sites.

I pretty much bring my noise cancelling headphones everywhere and I learned some basic sign language for when I go mute in stressful situations. It doesn’t always help, but being able to reduce the amount of stimuli that I get from sound (I have really good hearing and mixing that with having my brain always on and observing minute details tends to be a lot) usually goes a long way in helping me calm down.

Man, nothing made my life better than finding clothes that fit my style that are still comfortable and sensory safe. And discovering that was something I needed

Can someone please tell me how people who work everyday are supposed to cope. Have to get a job soon and I'm so scared that I won't be able to handle it, some days I can't get out of bed. Adhd and anxiety sufferer here and I'm feeling really hopeless but I need to get a job for health insurance.

I don't. I let the anxiety increase and see how overstimulated I can get before I blow. Healthy, I know. Mostly I avoid those situations, but maybe I should stop worrying about the fact that I don't have a diagnosis, and care enough about myself to help myself deal with those feelings. Thank you for helping me to have this realization!😅

can you do a video about how you call places and ask if they have any accommodations? i always want to do that, but end up getting so anxious about it that it just kind of makes everything worse and i’m not able to do it and just deal with whatever happens even if it makes things worse

That smaller line would be SO helpful for my anxiety. I get so incredibly overwhelmed waiting in big crowds, with everyone pushing into me and getting in my bubble, as though they think that making the line physically take up less space makes it a shorter line. How does one even go about asking for something like that?

Best advice as someone with adhd and a stuter, just start smoking weed find a weed kind that's calming but stil gives energy or at least doesn't make you sleepy.
For my its "lemon haze" or "fat banana" for me personally it helps with my adhd, social anxiety, sleep problems and even a bit with my stutter i can stil do everything like be productive at work or drive without being a danger to others. Most people dont even notice it just know your limits and your tolerance.

Side note it also helped me off my adhd medication so thats a plus .

Late ASD diagnosis here, and I still have no clue wth I am doing 😅 I feel like I'm purposely making life harder on myself, by winging it and hoping for the best... Ahhh, I love how similar, yet particular these spectrums are...

I went roller skating yesterday. It was so loud! I wore my fancy earplugs (Loop), and just took them out when I needed to talk to someone (the earplugs amplify my voice to me, so I speak way too quiet with them in), and it made it a lot easier to enjoy the music at the venue, since it wasn't way too loud.

I’ve started bringing a ball of yarn and my crochet hook whenever I go out because crocheting is one of the only things that can reign me in almost immediately. It keeps me focused and calm and I am so glad that I found something that helps me behave somewhat normally in public

Ah, but you see, a phone call is exactly what I fear 😂😭 but jokes aside this is great advice, I’ve never thought to do this for my adhd, I’ve only done it when I was post-surgery and had issues with moving around and getting easily overwhelmed due to pain 😅
