This was a great little analysis. Thanks for the video. I remember reading the book in horror as a teenager and decided to re-read it because I had a similar argument with a friend during the Trump years. Social media is a decentralised big brother. Which makes it scarier because it's not only one country that is under its influence but the entire world.

I read 1984 20 years ago and I thought it was appropriate then and rereading it recently I was struck with that feeling more and more. We have telescreens (smart tvs) we have newspeak ( all the internet abbreviations ) and we have manipulation of the media at all levels. I love that more and more people are reading this amazing book.

Still a great book. For me the new and far more modern 1984 is Alexander Merow's 'Prey World' series. You should also read it
