I've been a fan of Ari since I was about 10 and I remember the interview when asked who she would play. It feels so surreal and full circle. Now getting to know Cynthia and knowing how close they became on set. It just feels so perfect 💗 I can't wait for this film 😭

When I saw ''Wicked'' on Bdway with the original cast, my life changed.
I was so inspired by the relationship between Menzel and Chenowith, they're interpretive talents never needed words.
''I'll take care of her'' was a natural.

For a long time I was very much against the musical Wicked because it is NOT the story of the book Wicked, which was (and still is) one of my favorite books of all time.
Eventually I fell in love with the music and forgot my forced hatred and started to love musical (and yes, I definitely cried when I saw it on Broadway).
When this movie was announced decided to reread the book to prepare. Immediately I remembered how simply incredible it is. Gregory Maguires writing is beautifully poetic and the story is shockingly brutal, relavent and often times extremely upsetting. (seriously, if you haven't read it, do yourself a favor. And get ready for an Oz you never wanted but absolutely needed)
The difference this time, and I was really struck by this fact when watching this video, is that the musical and the book need each other.. And, we'll, even more so: the World needs the musical. The book will move you, but much in the same way Handmaid's Tale does. While I believe there is a HUGE place for that in our modern entertainment, I believe that the thing we don't get enough of, and what this world needs more of, is a chance to fly. The musical gives that to every person in the audience. An opportunity to see the changes within us, even the ones that scare us, as another way to show the world and ourselves who we are. We all to not play by the rules sometimes. Every once in a while....we just need to close our eyes.... And be popular.

I am so excited for this movie and these two ladies are going to take us somewhere really special. ❤️
