I mean, don't take this the wrong way ISM, I love you guys to death, but you guys aren't the hardcore Forza player, and I think for that, are missing why people are so upset.

For some, this is as close to a 'sim' as they'll be able to get. And with Forza, the best part wasn't the physics and the graphics, it was the overall experience. The only thing FM5 has left is its driving. They removed every good community aspect (Easy Accessible storefront/Auction House, Car/Tune/Design gifting, SELLING YOUR IN GAME VEHICLES, ) my personal list of cons goes on for quite a bit, and that's ignoring the big elephant in the room, cars and tracks. If this was a brand new IP, then it'd be a masterpiece. Because it's a sequel to FM4, and it's missing Forza classics like Iberian, Maple Valley etc, I feel shortchanged. Cheated. In terms of cars, the IGN DLC was 6 re-modeled cars from FM4 and 4 new ones. Again, makes me think they left out cars to put into DLC (a la Forza Horizon).

The sound effects when you crash into other doesn't seem right, but as for the engine sounds, they're brilliant.

After watching your past game reviews, this looked more like a let's play session than a full review. I wanted to see both of you(Darin and Shaun) presenting your opinion. It was a nice review still. I'm interested how sim or simcade racers will evolve with next-gen consoles.

I have to agree with the others, nothing really feels final or complete about this review, especially compared to how in-depth ISR has gotten when reviewing other similar games in the past. It also felt like you were picking and choosing between the GT and Forza reviews. You can't criticize Gran Turismo 6 for not improving on enough of its mechanics and content from its predecessor (a valid point), and then completely gloss over the way content and mechanics regressed and were left out moving from Forza 4 to Forza 5.

The removal of massive numbers of cars and tracks and features during the transition to the next gen is not "politics, " and should be weighed into the final score and critique of the product just as with any other new installment in a franchise.

Darin seemed biased towards Forza 5. On your final review of GT6 you covered all aspects of the game including criticizing the number of cars, the sound of engines and the AI. I found it hard to believe that for your Forza 5 review you didn't mention that it only has 14 tracks, only 200 cars, no Nurburgring track, no weather change and top cars like McLaren P1 or La Ferrari are only available as DLC.

Why are you - a SIM racing gamer - complaining about the sound being muffled INSIDE of a car while playing a SIM racing game? You do realize that in real life a car sounds "muffled" while sitting inside it compared to standing directly behind the exhaust(s), right? Sorry if I come off harsh, but you've complained about this more than once and it seems odd to me.

Turn up the engine sound in the settings so when you're inside the car it will sound like the engine is a lot louder

On gt6 review (which was great) he mentioned that braking is more realistic in gt6, he said that it's too grippy in forza 5.
But here he sounds totally different, praising Forza in every way.
Looks like advertising, not review.

Great review, I'm glad you didn't focus negativity towards the MT's, we all know how we feel about them so shouldn't really be a part of the review, also the issues people were having have all been addressed anyway.

It truly is an evolution for the series, ok the amount of content took a hit but everything is premium in quality, both the graphics and sounds are among the best in the genre (a tip for you if you don't like the muffled cockpit sound is to give the car a weight modification and you will hear the engine sounds come through much clearer) and the physics are brilliant, the distinction between cars is huge and the character of each comes through very well.

The little details make this game what it is, however it isn't really a typical console game, even for a "sim". It's bare bones and stripped down (though massive in scope compared to a lot of other racing sims) and is geared more towards the hardcore sim crowd than casual/part time Forza fans who only play Forza with assists and are unable to apprciate the finer details/depth on offer, hence they get bored very quickly.

The game is getting better with each Title Update too, there's still a few bugs here and there but they're all minor, the free Road America track was great and a new one coming this month, rumour is it's Nordschleife.

Darin, Man you don't bore me (us) at all. I love ya'll reviews on this stuff. I don't have a Xbox 1 just my Ol' Xbox Slim BUT I still want to see these Reviews on all this sim racing stuff. Thumbs up!

I feel the games like Forza and Gran Turismo are at the point where yes they may not have the physics of the the best PC title but have earned the right not to have words "for a console" follow any type of description of them.  That almost makes it sound like anything currently on the PC is better which I know is not the case.  Darin it seemed like you loved the force feedback / physics and just curious why it was needed to say "for a console"?  Thanks for the review!

you mention the FFB patch that came out in December, is that automatically updated on the console or do you have to go and fetch it. Great Review, i'm hoping to see a Madcatz Pro wheel review from you guys soon so I can decide which wheel to go for

You can tune the brake force pressure to make it a little less "touchy."

Lot's of input delay between real wheel and wheel in the car, doesn't it kill the driving experience? What's your opinion?
