My Adventures with Superman be such a cute and relatable show, then BOOM, Brainiac brainwashed Supergirl into committing a multi-planetary genocide

I was glad to see that Jimmy and Lois thought to reach out to Mala and the Brain for help.

One thing, when Kara was shown destroying Thanagar there a strong resemblance to the scenes when alternate versions of Superman were destroying Earth in the Legion of Loises episode.

Man, this take on Brainiac is creepy as heck

Plus, wasn't expecting Thanagar, let alone Parademons and the GLC

Clark just being able to connect with Kara wholesome to see. Love this series perfect blend of super hero comics and slice of life.

Also it's cool that the brainwashed and would be "robotic" Supergirl has the most emotive facial expression

Brainiac as a pure warmonger, not a collector. It’s different, I’ll give them that.

In this series Brainiac is basically Galactus and Kara is his Silver Surfer.🏄

This latest episode was definitely great. Superman awakened, kidnapped again, only this time he's lost in space. As misguided as Kara is shown to be, deep down, she does want to bond with Clark. Despite not agreeing with each other, Clark and Kara are definitely bonding. I can't help but enjoy how Clark teases Kara when he realizes that she has a crush on his friend Jimmy. Of course, Kara gets him back by pretending that the helmet part of her suit is malfunctioning, only to reveal to Clark that super powered kryptonians can survive in the vacuum of space. It was nice seeing them play in space. Apparently, Clark is aware of the moments when he suddenly gets more powerful and how it's usually due to a moment when he needs to protect someone. Kara seems to show signs that such a phenomenon has never happened to her. When Clark and Kara arrive on Thanagar and see it destroyed, this is where we start to see the cracks in Brainiac's conditioning over Kara. Kara showed signs of not knowing what Brainiac had her do to the planets that are made a part of the new kryptonian empire. Brainiac, tired of waiting, sends his drones to get Kara and Superman back on course with his ship, which apparently is this show's version of Kandor. We are also made painfully aware that Kara has no knowledge of her biological father, Zor-El. Her adopted father is Primus Brainiac, and he's quite the villain in this episode. Around Kara, Brainiac acts like a father, but he shows more of his true personality around Clark when it's just them. Brainiac revealed to Kal-El that he knew both of his biological parents, Jor-El and Lara, using that knowledge to lure Clark in. It marks the first time Clark learned about his biological mother's name. Then, to test what Superman is capable of, he has his drones take on the form of a Green Lantern, Parademon, and a Thanagarian. After seeing Superman's great potential, Brainiac is convinced that he can use Superman's powers to restore the kryptonian empire, starting with the conquering of Earth. Naturally, Superman won't let Brainiac take over Earth or use him as his weapon, but Brainiac clearly is going to try to force Superman to his will. Despite Superman's best efforts, once Brainiac used a red sun energy field, it was easy for him to subdue our kryptonian hero. To make things worse, we start to see the full effects of Brainiac's conditioning over Kara. It's a combination of raising her, manipulating her, and even brainwashing her. However, her time with Jimmy and Clark influenced Kara to learn the truth of what Brainiac had her do, which seemed to set her up on a path to redemption. A small glimmer of hope is shown when a ship reaches Kara carrying Lois, Jimmy, Malah, and the brain. I can't wait to see an explanation of how they got into space in the next episode.

Anyone else notices Clark’s helmet and screen make him look like Superman Blue? Nice touch.

This show really just levels up every episode. And can we talk about Brainiac’s voice? I think I may have to put this version neck and neck with STAS/JL/JLU

This is by far one of my favorite MAWS episodes. That being said, I find it odd that like the previous episode, some people seem to be fixated on the show's themes which isn't entirely a bad thing. But surely there are other reasons to enjoy the show, like the characters. Also, this show is serialized and each episode connects to tell a larger narrative. It's not like themes are exclusive to one episode.

To be honest, I kind of wish there were a few minutes spent on Lois and Jimmy frantically looking for Clark because them appearing at the end with Mala and the Brain just came straight out of nowhere. Otherwise, though, this episode was very good, especially with the presentation of Brainiac. I like how he's a bit like New 52 Zor-El with a cybernetic body, stern fatherly control over Kara, and obsession with restoring Krypton by devastating other worlds. I also like how we get a bit of worldbuilding with Thanagarians, Green Lanterns, and Parademons (?) apparently being victims of the Votrulimite-I mean, Kryptonian Empire.

Thank you for covering MAWS. Really loving this show. I expected season 2 to be good, but NOT THIS GOOD!
