1100 Words You Need to Know (An English Anki Deck made with Lute3 and Yomitan)

This is a video to remind myself of what I am doing right now.

The deck I am making is for learning English words and idioms probably at the upper intermediate to advanced level taken from the book of the same name.

The deck is made using Lute3 and Yomitan, and with the help of Longman’s, Collin’s and Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary. I also use chatgpt to generate a lot of the example sentences. Despite these useful tools, it still takes a long time to make this deck!

The Anki note type I am using is based on “Dan Romero’s Improved Anki Stylesheets” but with significantly more fields, a background wallpaper, frequency numbers, lots of added colour (I like to have a lot of colour on my cards) and an included NightMode theme. I also copied a lot of the extra design work from Longman’s Dictionary because I like that too.

The audio on my cards was recorded using my own voice as I found Anki’s microphone to be clearer sounding than a lot of Forvo’s audio. If you don’t like my voice, then I apologize for that, but the recordings should be nice and clear, just in a British accent that’s all.

By the way, do you happen to know about a good english dictionary for yomitan out there? I'm only aware of marv's repository's ones but I'm curious if there are more
