Budget Friendly Bedroom Makeover: DIY Thrift Store Design & Decor Ideas

Do you love a good before and after room makeover? Then, this is a bedroom transformation that you don’t want to miss. My youngest son moved out a few months ago, so after a few days of packing away his sports decor and memorabilia, I began redecorating the room in a classic vintage design using William Morris wallpaper as my inspiration. The only new items purchased were the wallpaper, bedding, curtains, and one gallon of paint. Everything else was repurposed from other rooms in my house or purchased at a thrift store. Oh, and one nightstand came off the curb! I shared lots of tips and tricks to help you with your next room makeover. Hope you find lots of inspiration here!

You are so talented. I don’t as a rule go for dark wall color but wow, you turned a blah room into a “designer house” bedroom. I also love how each “creator/crafter YouTube “ lady I watch has such different ideas and styles of decor they use. I’ve never really had the opportunity to really explore that creative side of myself. Turning 73 soon and still don’t know what my style really is, 😂. As an interior, designer, and an artist, I found this video, most enjoyable, and the final result absolutely exquisite❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️ I really appreciated how you went, step-by-step and preparing the room for paint by cleaning the walls, which is something a lot of people do not do and then they have trouble with their paint and hearing or laying smoothly like it is meant to. I love all the instructions and tips you gave everyone and how you showed that it is possible to make a beautiful room without breaking the bank. I know a lady that feels as if she could never remodel unless she spending tens of thousands of dollars and I want to say to her, how about you give me the money and I do like you did and looking for unique fines in someplace besides Ethan Allen, etc. I am not a snob and I understand and appreciate namebrand items such as your sheets or designer wallpaper, but so much of the rest of it accessories can be found without buying super expensive, 100%. There’s no reason you can’t, for example, invest in a nice piece of art, or a nice statue or figurine, such as L’ladro or Fitz & iFloyd. But as you have so beautifully demonstrated, feel the rest of the room up with
“treasures“, as I like to call them, can come from Your attic (or even your Grandmother’s, if she’s no longer using the items.

One of the reasons I like to encourage clients to incorporate personal items, as well as 2nd hand treasures, is because most of us weary of the decor within 5 years and will want to do it all over again. We are more likely to be compelled to do so if we did NOT initially spend $10, or $20, 000 on our remodel the first time❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️

What a bargain the $7 navy velvet cane chair was! Perfect for the room. I love how the swan on top of the china cabinet has touches of dusty rose like that in the wallpaper. Beautiful, rich looking room.

The transformation is stunning! All of the blues look so nice together. Finding a chair for under seven dollars, let alone one that is in good shape and has velvet cushions, was an incredible deal. I’ve always used wallpaper that needs to have the paste applied, as I like the maneuverability of it. I’ve been thinking of using peel and stick paper in a small area, so I appreciated the tips on that, especially about cutting around windows. The room looks beautiful

You did an amazing job and now I want to try to put up some peel and stick wallpaper, I have been so intimidated by it but boy did that make the room extraorindary and I love William Morris everything.
