the transition of childhood to adulthood

Such a gorgeous ending. It didn't bother for an elaborate confrontational scene. Just a simple phone call that tied up the story and characters' arc (Christine reconciling with her mom and her realizing that she loves Sacramento).

My favorite scene, so simple, delicate and pure. Lady Bird always wanted more, a bigger life, a better life, something unique and exceptional. She built herself contesting everything she was given. Now she is given a blank page, but she is lost in it. This church is a reminder of all that she used to hate but actually needed to build herself. She is getting a fresh start but she can’t be completely alone, she needs something of her past to reminder her who she is. She understand that what she was given made her and she needs it to carry on. Her name, first of all.

Sometimes I just remember this scene and start crying and I’m okay with that

I watched this movie with my mom in theaters. She always falls asleep. But with Lady Bird, she paid attention to everything, even read the subtitles. She loved the ending, me too.

With the viewpoint of personally living in Sacramento and then leaving it for a big city, this is what it felt like. I felt like this

Idk why but I started balling in this scene. Especially when she’s says Christine is a good name and then “did you feel emotional the first time you drove in sacramento?” It’s just so beautiful for some reason.

No one talks about how at the end it almost sounds like she wanted to say “i’m sorry”
but immediately stops herself and opts with a “thank you” instead. Like all this character growth and she still finds it hard to swallow her pride and apologise. It’s realistic and beautiful

Only when you have to leave the place you love do you truly realize how much you love it. Felt this when I had to leave my small hometown too

As someone who grew up in a small town thinking I hated it & then moved to NYC in my 20s thinking it would somehow fulfill me... this scene hit me hard. Just got done watching this for the first time and I cried like a baby

literally how I felt about my small town, the need to leave for wanting more art & culture and going to college far away in a bigger city, going against my parents wishes of wanting me study closer to home. then doing my first drive back home and realizing the beauty and the little things of my hometown. learning the things I took for granted.

favourite ending scene. gerwig is amazing.

Jon Brion is seriously a magician with the way he’s able to elevate a scene with his music.
