I have embraced being cheap at 62. Stuff just doesn’t matter anymore.

I agree, at 64 years old, I don't care about stuff any longer.

What gets me is that I know three young people who shared a one-bedroom apartment because one had to move out as soon as they turned 18 and the others fled abusive homes. They NEVER complain. I didn't realize how hard they had it until one gal crossed her legs and I saw her shoes were more holes than soles.

But people just a few years older are spendthrifts.

I still have my 1997 Honda Civic. It goes from point A to point B and it’s a great car. I’ll drive it until the wheels fall off.
Wake up people.

Great video. I am 26 years old and hate when people my age complain about not having enough money because we really do it to ourselves. We want a fancy new phone, a car payment, multiple subscriptions, to eat out everyday and buy expensive coffee and clothes, use credit cards and then complain when we have no money. I make $17.60 an hour here in eastern Oregon operating heavy equipment. Two months ago I was one of those young people complaining. I started driving the $800 pickup I bought in highschool, it's a real beater but it's cheap. I only drive to work, to the grocery and back home. I started making my own lunches and stopped eating out. Not only to become healthier but I saved a lot of money! I buy in cash only and have one subscription and just basic bills. I paid off two credit cards and a large personal debt. Now I have a $3800 loan left and I'm debt free and saving up as much money as I can!

I find living simply is easier when your older. You don't feel the need to impress anyone.

‘Keep being cheap”, I love it! Also “start where you are, use what you have, do what you can”. People don’t have an earning problem, they have a spending problem.

I live in income based housing.I get so aggravated when people spend on their wants then beg for their needs. They go out for coffee every morning but complain about how they can't afford their meds. They charge because they "deserve "to treat themselves and their children won't be responsible for the debt when they're gone.I save my credit in case my dog needs care or my car needs repaired. I live on so little. I remember you asking if we want stuff or money. If I get the urge to splurge I go to the dollar store and buy a lipstick.

People really don't want to stop their impulse buying nor the drama in their lives.

I came into some inheritance $ so I bought a small 1100sqft home that needs some minor work & I got a car. Ik you always say that a car is such a waste of $ but I have sacrificed some other things in my life for this truck. It's 7yrs old, I drive 40 mins to work & 40 back, of course, & it helps for materials I need to fix up my home. Honestly tho, I'm 48 yrs old & I've never had my own car. I'm separated from a 25 yr marriage & I wanted my own car, just for me! I guess it's my "I'm free" treat to myself.😉 I bought the home for myself too, but that I bought more for my son.

You are right! If you can’t pay all your bills with one weeks paycheck then learn a skill that will or cut back on your spending. It isn’t rocket science.

As I heard someone say a few years ago, " it's not the high cost of living that's killing us, it's the cost of High living that's killing people." I do know that things are high to say the least, but people won't even give up cable to buy food !! Its PRIORITIES FIRST!! Thing are bad and sky high, but cut out luxury things.

I’m 26 and I completely agree with you, people live way above their means and complain about how they can’t make it.

My daughter has no debt and doesn’t buy Starbucks. She brings home 2100.00 after taxes and putting in her retirement. Yes she could rent a place for 850.00 but it would be in a bad area. Also she has a big dog and some places will not allow that. So she moved back home and is saving her money. I agree that a lot of young people live way above their means but not all young people do. My husband and I never had credit card debt and paid our house off in 15 years. We taught our kids not to buy what you can’t afford and it’s ok to do without. It’s better to save than spend.

I agree with you! One of the things it boils down to is that many people "want it all" and they want it now. There's some gratification in saving my money for the things that I want instead of putting it on credit. Also, I've found that by the time I've saved my money for the item that I thought I wanted, I really don't want it anymore and it's more important to keep my money in the bank.

My tenant recently had a lavish wedding…I saw on Facebook, it was extremely lush and now has not paid the rent for three months, … now left the the place in shambles and didn’t even turn in the key…just skipped out…priorities right…
