This movie was a wake up call for feminists. I am so sick and tired of women being locked out of the trades by the patriarchy. I long to see the day when half the roofers in this country are women. Women should have as much right to work in 100+ temperatures on a hot roof as men. Demand justice women!

‘The Barbie movie’ is being hailed as a subversive feminist masterpiece but even in their wildest fantasy world they reveal their true desires.. Barbie longs to live in and chooses the real world’s Patriarchal Dystopia NOT Barbieland’s Matriarchal Utopia 😂

All you guys need to do is listen to Shania, " the best thing about being a woman is, look provocative to have a little fun..."women have always been aware of the power they hold over men!

Meanwhile, Mattel is laughing all the way to the Bank of England.

Barbie is a rare film in that all the reviews and criticisms of it are far more nuanced and interesting than the film itself. Ergo “this feels like a dumb person’s idea of what a smart movie is.” -Krystal Ball

Please tell me about the "real patriarchy" beyond declarative statements 😂

Whenever 1/2 say masterpiece & 1/2 say garbage, see it for yourself. Loved it but you do you & I'll do me - it's that simple!

The antagonist of the Barbie movie was, in fact, Barbie herself. She may have been a self-deluded and/or naive antagonist but at the center of "Barbie World" and the core problem (every story has an issue or problem that must be corrected) was Barbie herself.

A very meta lesson to be learned is that if women are interested in something, they will show up to support it. But the other things in recent memory that held the hysteria of women have been Magic Mike and 50 Shades. Barbie just happens to unite women and girls to create an even greater force. Imagine if most women cared about sports: they would get (and deserve) the equal pay, since they would bring in equal money.

They could have just made a movie about Barbie vs Monster High charters, make it loaded with inside jokes about the toy world, 80s vs now, but instead they choose the easy route today, political stance where it doesn't belong. Junk ideas, junk content and no real heritage. No one will remember this movie in 2030, unlike well done movies you can watch over and over again.

It was so obvious. As soon as the plot / goal went from Barbie fixing herself to Barbie "saving" the motherland (literally) from the men, I knew this movie was twisted and was made by a child-at-mind. 0/10 garbage film.

Oh please. I’m a Right winger and retired military, but this is just silly nonsense. It was a fun movie, end of story. For goodness sake, the President and Supreme Court in Barbie World wore Bikinis. Does that sound like an anti-Man movie? Get a grip people.

Yup. Saw it this weekend. Man hating is exactly what it is.

Maybe some people over analyze when they go see a movie. Let's not forget movies are meant to entertain and give us an escape for a couple hours. I sometimes look at movies for the costume and set design. Sometimes I want to see excellent acting. Sometimes I want to see excellent fight scenes. No movie satisfies all my interests and that's ok. At the end of the day, hundreds of people are temporarily employed and that's not too bad.

Sounds as though somebody needed to show the Barbies some "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" or "Xena:Warrior Princess" episodes. I don't recall a whole lot of Victory Through Flirting dis-empowerment in those.

I mean name me one scene that didn’t display everyman as being weak, disrespectful and misogynistic. Look up the CEO’s at Mattel (the real one’s) and you’ll see that this movie had an agenda for sure. And I’m a Democrat/independent so don’t let nobody put you in no box cause your opinion don’t match theirs. If the BS is obviously, call it out.

The movie made the mistake of trying to satirize a child’s world onto an adult subject, while still selling to kids. No edge, so it just leaves everyone to keep there own opinions and judge it. Pretty genius if the goal was just to get as many eyes on it as possible, but kills it ever having a long term life. IMO. It was a tactful decision.

So the characters were shallow, the plot was broken, it was over politicized and even that was done poorly, what exactly did you like about the movie?
