I Race a Ship to get a Photo

I race a 508ft (155m) freighter ship to try to get a photo of it at the end of the pier.

I was at Silver Beach in St. Joseph, Michigan when I saw this ship called Northern Venture coming in from Lake Michigan in the morning. I was only able to get a quick photo from the shore.

So I decided to watch for it all day to leave the St. Joseph River and head back out to the lake. When we saw it moving in the trees, i grabbed my camera and took off running. My wife, Courtney, caught me on video.

I wasn’t sure if I’d get ahead of the ship, so i stopped a few times along the way when i saw a good photo.

I LOVE this video! We live in Indy, and travel several times a year to the Lake Michigan Lakeshore, roughly from St Joe to Ludington. I love all the piers, lighthouses, state parks. It's a fantastic area. If you've not visited Ludington State Park, I HIGHLY recommend it. I've got a few hundred photos from a couple of weeks ago that I need to edit and post :)
