This is actually fantastic. I forgot to do my Rand affirmations at my Rand shrine yesterday. The secret police should be coming to Ex-communicate me any day now 😉

"It's not much, but it's honest work" Lol! Loved the video. I like your idea behind making this channel (humanizing Objectivism, so to speak), you've got a new subscriber.

I forgot to include the time I spend staring out the window in crippling despair because of the pandemic quarantine. #thankscorona

Goodbye Yaron Brook, hello Jennifer. Lol. Don't tell Yaron.

Hilarious video. Shared it with a friend and we were cracking up.

A day in the life of an Objectivist would largely reflect the principles of Ayn Rand’s philosophy: individualism, rational self-interest, and a commitment to personal achievement. Here’s how such a day might unfold:
1. Morning Routine: An Objectivist starts the day with a focus on self-care and efficiency. This might involve physical exercise to maintain health, as Rand emphasized the importance of the body’s well-being for pursuing one’s goals. Mental discipline would likely follow—perhaps reading, planning, or engaging in work-related tasks that contribute to personal success.
2. Work and Productivity: Objectivism is centered around the idea that work is a fundamental value, and that personal productivity is a key to achieving happiness and fulfillment. An Objectivist might spend the majority of their day pursuing professional or entrepreneurial endeavors, with the goal of creating value and gaining success through their own efforts.
3. Pursuit of Knowledge: An Objectivist places a high value on reason and rational thinking. Throughout the day, they would likely engage in activities that expand their knowledge, whether it’s reading philosophy, economics, or scientific literature that supports their worldview. Intellectual independence is a hallmark of Objectivism, so an Objectivist may spend time questioning, challenging, and refining their understanding of the world.
4. Personal Relationships: Objectivists believe in forming relationships based on mutual respect and shared values. An Objectivist’s interactions with others would focus on voluntary associations—those who contribute positively to their life and help them pursue their goals. Relationships would be seen as value-exchange partnerships rather than purely emotional connections.
5. Evening and Leisure: In the evening, an Objectivist would likely enjoy time for personal reflection, leisure, or engaging in activities that provide personal joy or intellectual stimulation. For Rand, art (particularly literature, music, and visual arts) was considered an essential means of enhancing one’s life and understanding of human existence, so an Objectivist might spend time consuming art that aligns with their values.
6. End of the Day: Before bed, an Objectivist may reflect on the day’s achievements, considering how they have advanced their personal goals and values. There would be a clear sense of satisfaction from living a life in accordance with one’s principles, free from guilt or self-sacrifice.

This life is grounded in the belief that one must live for their own sake, not for the sake of others, and that self-interest, when rational, leads to human flourishing.

This made my day! I honestly feel pretty lonely as an objectivist, so it is so fun to find a video like this that gets me and also has a sense of humor.

I think you missed the disconnection between Rand and selfishness. Her anti-altruism notion was based on the faux altruism of those who parade their generosity to be seen and recognized as an important person. She was suggesting that their faux altruism amounts to nothing but selfishness at the root because it isn't about the beneficiary at all. Just as dropping money into a crack addict's tattered paper cup makes a person FEEL like they did something to help, they care nothing about how that same crack addict took that $20 bill and bought a rock and overdosed and ended up in the morgue later that night. God bless!
