I used to have a hot dog cart outside my job. They had some bomb dogs and homemade chili. Never once had an issue with them, as they kept the cart super clean and everything fresh each day.

About ten years ago a NYC TV station did a hidden camera on the vendors. Many of them left hot dogs they didn't sell that day in buckets sitting on the floor and reheated them the next day. These areas the carts parked overnight was crawling with huge rats and sometimes the rats would chew into the plastic buckets and chew on the hot dogs. Gross
