How I made $1000 selling stock footage

An easy second income stream for filmmakers is selling stock footage. I've been selling for just about a year now, and have made $1000 on Storyblocks, Dissolve and Blackbox. This video shares exactly what clips I've sold, what I shot them with, where I sold them, and some of my takeaways.

My strategy has never been to make my sole income from stock footage - rather, I want to generate a consistent and regular paycheck from selling stock clips. This also allows me to creatively repurpose footage that I shoot for clients or for fun as an asset that can generate revenue. While I use Blackbox and Dissolve, I recommend doing your own research and deciding what platforms make sense for the amount of time you have to dedicate to creating and uploading stock.

Just a quick question: If I submit a clip to a stock footage site and have already used it in a video of mine that's uploaded to youtube, will I encounter problems? Thanks a lot!

very helpful. Thanks! So, how does it work with you still using these same shots that you sold for your own youtube channel? Could they possibly get flagged somehow for a copyright infringement?

How do you know when you to film in 24 or 30 or 60? For iPhone do you use hybrid ND/Polarizer or ND separately from Polarizer? Thanks!

Bro, I have a common question related publishing. I am a beginner and thinking about starting stock footage journey this year. But where should I upload, did i upload individually on all platforms or I should choose blackbox or wirestock. Please guide me ...

I have no drone but maybe I am going to start looking into shooting and uploading some stock footage, as I do like shooting time lapses. Shouldn't be much different.

Hey, who controls the pricing on blackbox? Do they set the price? I'm looking to start this year on all this footage I'm sitting on.

Great video! I also did a video on stock footage I sold over blackbox recently. It's a great platform!

Lovely video! Where are you currently uploading to? Are you using anything else besides Blackbox? :) I am about to upload 600 drone videos from all across the world and don’t know if I should use Blackbox or upload individually to Adobe Stock, Shutterstock, Pond5, etc

Great footage! Thank you for the video. What are your thoughts on Pond5 Exclusive? I watched one of their webinars and they brought up a good point, that some stock sites are constantly undercutting each other. So eventually, stock footage value could end up being like stock photography if we upload the same content to many different sites.

You're a beast, dude! Have you uploaded anything to pond5? I have over 400 clips there but still zero sales. What are your thoughts on that?

Hello. I applied for storyblocks to become a contributor. However, my application has been pending for over a year now. Tell the e-mail of the storyblock site employees so that you can contact them. General e-mail does not suit me, I get answers from some person who is not even part of the review team.
