The electronics inside are actually made by GAN. It's using the same protocol as recent GAN cubes as opposed to the bluetooth connection similar to the previous generation AI. Interesting that they've either licensed it or partnered for that.

I watched the pi cube video (it's in mandarin) and on the battery note, there is no rechargability you just have to replace the battery in the middle. I don't like that as that was a problem for me with the gan i carry, as with defects you would have to go to the middle a lot to change battery, or take it out and place it back in correctly so the smart cube would work.

Hmmm so there's actually no distinguishing features from the outside versus a non-smart cube?
