I've only surfed one time and failed at it but hope to get lessons next time I travel to Florida. Great video and explanation.

No one else knows how much work it takes for a surfer to get graduated from a gremmie to finally make it look like so much fun and having an effortless affair with Mother Nature! One last thought YOU NEED TO KNOW HOW TO SWIM BEFORE EVER STEPPING IN THE OCEAN!

3 stages to catching a wave:
look for the concave in the approaching swell.

Aim toward the tallest unbroken part.

Identify what you will need to do once you stand and stand back or forward accordingly.

Nice video, but it isn’t a surrogate for the real thing. Paddle out and learn it for yourselves. Just don’t hit or drop in on anyone. Safety first.

Trim your board into the wave while in cobra / just before pop up? Good god... I've not been doing this... And no waves to try.
