I think Starship will launch for Mars before FSD handles your infamous Road Closure obstacle. Apparently, it’s the hardest problem in the world for AI to solve. 😂. Thanks for the great content!

System clearly needs an AI language interface so that you can give it easy feedback such as: "speed limit is 30, not 50", "road closure, reroute", "I'm bored, tell me a joke", etc.
Clearly needs Grok or CharGPT or something similar for the last 1% of perfection

12.5.1 felt like a regression to me. I just did a 2ish hour errand run in 12.5.1.1 and it was much more pleasant than 12.5.1 for me. Good call on the roof cam, my 360 is on the way too! I wish I had it in the monsoon I drove through last night. FSD did very well when I couldn’t see.

Fantastic video! Love real reviews. I have MYLR with HW4. On day one I was blown away by how far FSD had come but also knew 100% that: 1) HW4 will never ever be completely autonomous due to literal blind spots in the cameras. 2) FSD on any hardware is at least a few years away (possibly several years) from 100% autonomy in all situations.

So far I don’t think anyone with 12.5+ has reported any cases of FSD getting blinded by the sun. I’m hoping the larger model is better at picking out the important details even when the lighting is bad.

Blinking red lights are an FSD hoot! If you drive early mornings when the traffic lights are flashing the Tesla on FSD will stop-start-stop-start in a silly little dance all the way through the intersection. You can see its brain going, "Red! okay, go! Red! Okay go! Red!..."

Glad to see you take over around emergency vehicles. Too many human drivers have forgotten the rules when encountering emergency personel on the road. If you see flashing lights or hear sirens coming, pull to the right side of the road and stop. If there is an emergency vehicle pulled to the side of the road and stopped, then slow down and get over one lane if possible when going around. No wonder FSD hasnt mastered this if learning from us 😂

18:44 it used to roll stop signs but NHTSA said that the car needs to make a full stop at stop signs no matter what

Most training is by human drivers, but they can also re-record a stop sign interaction and edit it to pause the video for 3 seconds, then feed the edited version into the trainer. They also train by having somebody record a high resolution video game interaction sequence to feed to the trainer, giving them a chance to learn about crash avoidance and things without putting humans in danger. This video game training is also likely to be a way to do initial "rules of the road" training.

Hey, if you want your camera to stop overheating put it in tripod mode, turn of OIS, and turn off the preview screens. Same thing used to happen to me.

FSD doesn't seem to know the difference between streets it should drive on and alleys it should stay out of.

Imagine the chaos if, during rush hour, a dozen Teslas decided to cut through a loading zone alley like that and got stuck because they didn't see the three trucks around the curve trying to get in or out of dock spaces and the Teslas couldn't back up.

I just drove with it today. What I see is the speed it drives. I do not have Auto Max and set speed at +10%. I am in average mode as well. I see, consistently, low speeds when speed limit is >=50mph and high speeds when speed limit <50mph. On a 10 mile stretch of road with numerous 55mph signs, my car struggles to go 48mph or higher. Conversely, when entering my neighborhood and 25mph sign, it will hold 28mph. Have you encountered this? Not just with 12.5.1.1.

Just got done watching your video. Thanks for taking .1.1 to the road closed signs, I was crossing my fingers and toes hoping that it would make that right instead of trying to go thru the signs. 😮‍💨I guess FSD's AI isn't very intelligent at all and definitely has no learning abilities. I also agree that the stop & gos need to be more linear and smooth instead of jerky and nauseating sometimes. Stopping in the middle of railroad tracks was crazy! Have you tested the Adaptive Headlights update yet? Curious to see what it's suppose to do. I tried it and couldn't really tell... Maybe when you do the night driving test you can throw that in there? 🙂Keep making great videos! Tesla engineers could learn a lot from your vidz. 😉
