Myers Park Upgrade | Auckland Council

Mana whenua, Auckland Council, the Waitematā Local Board and the City Centre Advisory Panel have realised a shared ambition to make Myers Park a place for all people to enjoy.

The Myers Park Upgrade includes multi-sensory artwork Waimahara which infuses the space with a profound cultural identity, honouring the ancient waters that once flowed through the area.

Completed in December 2023, the upgrade is a shining example of how infrastructure and art can come together to create a public place that enriches lives, enhances connectivity and inclusivity and delivers sustainable outcomes for future generations.

Now a public space that pays homage to the land's cultural and environmental heritage, it fosters a sense of belonging and connection to Tāmaki Makaurau - its past, present, and future.

The ultimate ambition of the Myers Park Upgrade was to create a space that Aucklanders could be proud of, and this project has undoubtedly achieved that goal.
