Vid starts a long way from Wigan town centre at Dover Lock on the other side of Abram, through Platt Bridge, Spring View, Lower Ince then into Wigan and the eventually the town centre.

Lived here all my life, Wigan Town centre is embarrassing, the homeless are rife, I've not much sympathy for the homeless a lot of them are addicts we all have choices.

The end product of horrific childhoods is what homelessness stems from in most cases, investment in child services would go a long way to preventing future drug addicts, alcoholics and homelessness, the damage done by the above then adds to mental issues,

Just stumbled on this video. Just want to point out in town centre now there is a local church named Queens Hall. Right next to the bus station. They work with a charity named the Brick and welcome many homeless to use the church as a place to sleep

I used to go to Wigan Pier and Henry Africas Night Clubs in Wigan as a young man. We would have a few pints in our local pubs in Golborne and Lowton at the weekends until about 9:pm and then get a bus in to Wigan Town Centre and head to the clubs.
Used to have a great time but after the clubs emptied it could be rough and dangerous. Like most places I suppose. Young men - add alcohol and drugs = Violence.

I used to enjoy going to Wigan Towncenter for the shops. There’s not very much there now so nobody goes.. People go to Robin Park instead.

I wanted get into drugs work after doing a sentence for drugs.
I didn't know anything about hard drugs. Couldn't get a break to do volunteering because I had no experience.
Bought a 9oz bar of cannabis and sat in there all summer 2002 with all the homeless and addicts, getting to know them all, to learn.
Got a break with LifeLine in August 2002. Then NHS September 2002.
6th January 2003 in Pepper Mill, The Key Project was born.
Commissioned summer 2004 after some hard activism.
Changed its name to The Brick in 2007.
What an adventure that was.
