Derek Lalonde is the Matt Patricia of the NHL. Both have been on the coaching staff of a multi championship team and got their first head coaching jobs with Detroit where in Patricia's case he proceeded to run the Lions six feet under the ground. Lalonde is doing the same thing with the Wings and he's got to go.

Detroit needs to fire Lalonde. He may be a nice person, but I’m still baffled by the defensive scheme the Wings are trying and failing to accomplish. In fact I don’t think the coaching staff for the Wings understands the fundamentals of the NHL game. It’s redundant, erratic, and in some instances, against top echelon team’s, absolutely futile and ugly to watch. Steve, why the lack of support for a better more seasoned coach. This is horrible!
