Think out of the box. I work in the hospital and there are PLENTY and MANY people who are in need of friendship, and it's not sad, it's just life, we just need to be there for each other and there are many ways to reach out to those people, and websites/apps/meetups are one of the avenues to meet people. People may be widowed, grieving, disabled, relocated. Maybe they just don't want to bother their current circle too much, but wouldn't mind company. Yes, there are sketchy individuals that may use these services for the wrong reasons, so do your due diligence. But it's not shameful to have a friend for a day.
