it just worked for me. I have had an account for 10 years and used to call all the time to get them to switch it. Tried again to call when I got my new xbox one and saying that i could just start a new account with a new name but I wanted to retain my gamerscore and still nothing. Today i watched this video and it let me update my gamertag for free and i laugh in the face of any customer service agent who spent time on the phone with me telling me they wouldn't waive the $10 charge while I asked to speak to Bill Gates

I have a default gamertag that's 15 characters long and I don't even care about changing it because when I was on my other gamertag, which was 12 characters long, I tried to change it on the "customize classic gamertag" option and when I tried entering a 15 character name it kept saying "sorry something went wrong" "please try your gamertag again." I kept doing it again and again and still didn't work. It was about to make me draft away from Xbox almost.
