Price to performance, I'd say that the CHARGE 5 offers the best overall value, when pertaining to the smaller portables.

I have the JBL Flip 6, best audio device I ever bought, that small tweeter makes a big difference!
Most portable speakers are tune to produce overkill bass, this one has a great bass but it also sounds clear and opened.

Ever since release in 2018 I owned the Charge 4, which has been absolutely phenomenal to say the least. That little thing has been everywhere and always exceeded expectations.
At the time my roommate had a boombox that was still getting outperformed by the Charge 4. But today I live in a significant larger house and the Charge 4 is struggling. Most of the time I listen to harder styles like D&B, EDM, Hardstyle, etc. and after years of usage, I blew the speaker overcompensating the space it had to fill. Other genres are still doable, but the bass is a goner.
So, this time I went with the PB110, knowing from experience the boombox wouldn't cut it either, and with the encore probably still being to small and the 310 and up likely to be way to much overkill inside the house.

My advice: If you want to have something portable to take with you everywhere you go, pick the flip, clip, flap, flop, or whatever the unnecessary overkill on models.
If you want something hybrid/semi, to take to the beach and also use in a apartment/room or small house, go for the Charge.
Everything bigger and stationary outdoors, the partyboxes.

Have had JBL SPEAKERs FOR OVER 5 years. Have a Charge 5 now and it is used DAILY, multiple times. I love music as well as used with phone for YouTube. A must have in my opinion I love it!

I have had a JBL since the original flip but the charge 4 is the best value over all. I’ve been using it as a job site speaker until the tweeter failed. I got the boom box 2 it’s absolutely awesome but way to large to transport everyday. I’m looking to the extreme 3 simply for portability and type c charging. Excellent information on these devices

For those who want to take it a notch up the PartyBox series is a hit.
I bought a used PB 200, slapped some rubber wheels under it (the 300 comes from the factory with them), threw in a battery pack (also in the 300 from the factory), and I'm happy! Plenty of good bass JBL sound for small money (bought it for 100 $)

The JBL Boombox is insanely loud and clear, even on battery. I've used it outdoors and indoors. It's always a party when that thing is around. Worth every penny if you're looking for a powerful portable speaker with amazing battery life.

My company gifted me a Charge 5 and I initially thought what am I going to do with this thing?? I listen to music with high end headphones or my home wharfedale elysians/home theatre. Then I connected it to my laptop and it hit me.. perfect for boosting my laptop remotely for zoom meetings, hotels, anywhere really. I just toss this thing in my laptop bag/pack and have acceptable audio no matter where I am in the world.

Thanks for the excellent review! I got the go3 about a year ago as a gift and i've loved how portable it is and its been a perfect shower speaker. Weirdly when i was charging it one day, the usb c charging cable literally melted INTO the speaker and broke off. Like it melted the plastic around the port and re-harded around it and then the charger broke off so i literally cannot recharge it.

So long story short I'm in the market for a new speaker! While I loved the go3, its definitely been a little subpar at anything more than personal listening. I go to the beach and pool frequently as well as have small parties so I think I'm going to go with a refurbished charge 5 for only $115! It definitely seems like the best value.

The JBL speaker I love the most is the JBL Charge 5. It’s super light, has a decent size, pretty good battery, and pretty good sound. It has a built in power-bank which is nice. My cousin and I have the same exact speaker so we can use the PartyBoost feature. I’d say it’s better than the Flip 6.

I just upgraded my Boombox 1 to Boombox 3, there is a lot of improvements to the sound quality…I do really recommend the Boombox 3

JBL has been doing PartyBoost for a few years now. I locked in on the JBL Connect+ generation and got 10 speakers. 2 Flip 4, 2 Charge 4, 2 Pulse 3, 2 Xtreme 2, and 2 BoomBox. I connect all of them at parties and especially camp trips with dope playlists. Salty that I can't(won't) get any of JBL's improved generations because I invested in the "wrong" generation. They have done three up to this point by the way; Connect, Connect+, and PartyBoost.

My favorite speaker by far is the JBL flip 6 and JBL charge 5 the flip is just loud and small and has good value and the strap makes it easy to hang on my bike and the charge has very good bass and a good price compared to the xtreme which is to expensive and not worth it
