In this video, I'll show you how to soak almonds for better digestion and mineral absorption. Activated almonds that have been soaked and dehydrated are crispy, have an amazing enhanced almond flavor, and a wonderful, slightly salty taste.

🌰 RECIPE 🌰

INGREDIENTS
4 cups of raw almonds
1 tbsp of high-quality salt (Celtic sea salt or Himalayan pink sea salt)

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Rinse the raw almonds
2. Place the rinsed almonds in a bowl, add salt and cover them with filtered water, leave about 1 inch at the top. The almonds will swell, so make sure you use a big enough bowl that leaves some room above the water for the almonds to expand in.
3. Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and let soak for 8-24 hours.
4. Drain and rinse the almonds and pat them dry.
5. Spread the almonds evenly on a parchment-lined baking tray and leave some space around the nuts so the air can circulate.
6. Dry the almonds in the oven or in a dehydrator for between 12-24 hours at a low temperature between 95 and 150 degrees Fahrenheit (35 - 65 degrees Celcius). Open the oven and flip the nuts around a couple of times.
7. When the almonds are completely dry and crisp, remove from the oven and let cool. The best way to know if they are done is to feel them and give them a taste. If they are dry to the touch and are crispy when you break them apart, they are ready. If still moist, leave in the oven for another hour or two, otherwise they could become moldy.
8. Transfer into an airtight glass jar and store in the fridge or use to make delicious almond butter.

I love soaking my nuts! My husband is on board now too and loves the flavor better. He told me I HAVE to do this with his pecans from now on. We take them as part of our snacks to pack when going hiking in the White Mountains of NH. We just finished our first hike of the year this past weekend, lookin forward to this weekend! I love the music to this video also. Very relaxing 😌❤️

A whole jar of almonds? I'd eat all of that in one evening (and probably die the same night, but that would be a happy death)

Soaking does NOTHING to soften nuts no matter what kind, the ONLY way to really soften nuts is to boil them for at least 20-30 minutes, or until soft enough that they squish in your mouth.

I have tried soaking overnight and even for a week, changing the water, and soaking does NOT soften nuts, but boiling on the other hand, I have boiled walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts, and brazil nuts, and they are much better and a lot softer to eat when you have no teeth to chew nuts.

So, in my experience boiling nuts work, soaking doesn't.

These need more sprouting time as they are not yet ready, they need to sprout a bit

For how long do the almonds stay edible after the whole process? I intend to do this once a month for 1 kg and consume it throughout the month

So once you have done soaking and drying, can you still eat them with the skin on?
