X3 is the perfect 2 in 1 4k camera.

That is, you can use it as either a 360 camera or as a single lens 4k camera.
The only problem with the x3, which makes an action camera significantly better at 1 lens, is that the x3 lens is not the most robust for situations where you are in motion and you just can't replace the x3 lens if you get a scratch.

I have the Insta360 X2 and the Hero10, and you make some great points here. But I still seem to use the GoPro more, especially when I'm combing video from different cameras. And one big difference is the GoPro is rugged, it can be dropped, fall over on a tripod. The Insta360 is more fragile, you have baby it like a real camera or smartphone. But the X3 does allow you to be more creative. Great video Shawn, and thanks for sharing.

Really useful comparison. I’ve always had GoPro’s but have been increasingly disappointed with the cost vs durability. Add the obvious benefits of shooting in 360 and only requiring one camera to deliver multiple viewing angles and the choice in my opinion is pretty simple. Thanks Sean 👍

I'm still undecided. My usage would solely be for Dragon Boat. To record the team paddling while steering the boat. I will be using a head mount. One important feature is GPS to show our speed as an overlay. I'm not sure how the Insta360 gps addon would perform.

You're looking great, Shawn - thanks for the comparison! I have both of these cameras, and tend to find the GoPro Hero 11's 10-bit more useful. I am turned off by the social media aspects of the Insta360 app, and the X3 requires much more post-processing than the GoPro for quick, usable footage. I prefer the replaceable lens on the GoPro, versus the very exposed glass on the X3. I use my videos for student learning. I am disappointed I can't easily share the X3's 360 videos (except to YouTube) so viewers can pan around as they watch without a proprietary viewer app.

But gopro has faaar better picture/video quality compared to X3 right? My use case is recording virtual walks in well lit area like on a trip and then enjoy it later on a VR headset . I really want the 360 video but the quality looks horrible in X3. Any suggestions?
