We love IMSAI Guy! Glad we were able to support you with this.
A couple points to make as I watch through this
3:35 The HD3 will come with qty 1 500 MHz probe per channel
4:00 Autoscale is a lot faster than it was for the older 3000 X-Series scopes
12:20 Confirming XY mode and roll mode are both coming soon (free firmware update)
Thanks for what you do for the community!

Congrats! You deserved it. Happy for you!

This channel deserves this. Please followup with the constellation once the X/Y feature has shipped.

Awesome piece of kit, and very noble of Keysight to donate one to your channel, well deserved!.

Yep, in the old days your old analog 'scope didn't have to boot. Of course, you had to wait until the tubes warmed up to see anything, and then you had to wait for a long time for things to stabilize. I think I'll put up with the boot time.

As one of the engineers that worked on the new MegaZoom 5 chip for this scope, I'm so glad you are enjoying it!
funtechu
Nice scope and very well deserved for all the teaching you do!

WOW, a $8500 scope as a gift! You are certainly doing something right! I think even the guy on "signal path" would go wow on this! When you get a chance show the low level signal capability. I have a Keysight DSOX1202 that I paid full price for (2 grand!) and am disappointed in the performance of in low level signal measurement. (10mv to 100mv) Being an 8 bit scope it is horribly choppy. Apparently the low level signal range is simply digitally magnified rather than re-scaling the A:D to put the full 256 levels for full scale on the range. I'm trying to find someone to unload this thing on but no suckers so far. Rigol, here I come!

Wow. A nice toy to play with and very useful too. And it's paw friendly for ImsaiDog.

Awesome stuff, great to see Keysight sent you one.
Hey Daniel I think mine got lost in the post ? LOL

8:57 When you connected that USB to power the demo board, the noise level on the oscilloscope increased. In fact, this is nothing "abnormal", it's the reason to build a separate 5V/2A linear power supply with USB output just to power boards like this.

Your excellency, the famous IMSAI dog!

Congratulations! You earned it. Now give me some of that FFT!

Good review. I recently purchased a Siglent SDS1204X HD. It seems to be a poor country cousin of the Keysight HD3 series. So far it seems to be a pleasure but has some strangeness like putting the averaging in the math function.

Major leagues test gear time! I wish I could find one in a dumpster - but that only happens in Australia, LOL.

You mentioned getting fingerprints on the touchscreen. Most recent touchscreens don't have to be touched with the meat of your finger. Try holding your finger downwards at a 45 degree angle and tap the screen lightly with your fingernail. I have used the touchscreen on my IC-7610 transceiver in this manner since purchasing it in 2018 and have cleaned the screen only a few times to remove dust. I never have smudges. Great review and an awesome gift! 73, de WG2E.

Normal hobbyists cant afford that kind of equiptment, I hope it is built well and can be obtained in the second hand market after 20 years.

Very nice addition to the bench! Lemme know if you can't find room for it! You might pick up some of those tablet/phone pokey stylus things with the conductive rubber end to substitute for your finger. As a bonus, maybe you could use the other end as a pointer in your videos? Of course, then it's just another thing loose on the bench to chase after.

I'm not particularly interested in scopes, but I *am* in the longer video camp, so I'm here to engage.
