I like the fact that immediately, after seeing his son on screen, he knows that this is what Johnny has been truly passionate about.

I think a nice little detail is that the whole time he's doing this. His eyes are completely shut and he is hitting every single key perfectly while singing his heart out. This shows that he rehearsed this song relentlessly to the point where he could do it with his eyes closed and not mess up.
