Should you have fake gums on your full set of dental implants or all on 4?

There are 5 different ways to rebuild a smile using dental implants, and a lot of people get hung up on if they should or shouldn't have 'fake gums'.

In this video, I will try to explain what should really guide the decision.

You have a Great Way of explaining things! You are able to break down complex concepts and make them easily understandable. Thanks for doing these videos!!

I totally understand everything your talking about. I have the old ugly dentures and I can’t even drink a glass of water with them in. The lab did a horrible job and I’ve had them relined, I’ve even had to do some sanding in order to simply talk. 😢 Thank you for another amazing video. ❤

This is an excellent explanation, however coming from an almost toothless upper patient who’s researching a lot about which option to take, I can say almost all of us would take the gum free option every time, as it’s the only procedure that looks and acts like your real teeth. Unfortunately most of us have significant bone loss, to me an all on 6 looks fine until the gums are retracted and then it just looks like a denture attached to your gums, and I’m being asked for £20, 000 for this. I don’t understand why you cannot have the fake gum seamlessly butting up against your own gum line, so no bone removal required, and original teeth height etc restored - I’d have that in a heartbeat.

Oh I’ve learned more from your 2 videos I’ve watched today, than all the hours I spent watching all the others! I feel like I just got back from Mayo Clinic with all your information you shared. Blessings for a good week. Mrs. Debbie Feighner/Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA.

Hello Doctor, thanks for your very informative video really helps to understand better the whole subject.

I have recently done my implants (full upper jaw and crowns + 2 implants bottom jaw) had 2 bone grafts and 2 sinus lifts, let's don't forget 19 extractions 😅
It sounds like a lot but I've been dreaming for so long the day to my operation and after couple of years and long hours at work I have managed to do it, it feels amazing even the doctors we're impressed of their final result/work! I have choose to have gum also, best thing ever.

My question about which it seems impossible to find an answer on Google is: Is it normal for gums to retreat slightly after the permanent denture has been put on?
I remember the day they put them on when I was blowing with between my teeth no air was going through, just a tiny little bit, now after 10 days there's more air getting through but not visible gaps between denture and gums, I was wondering if that it's normal to have some sort of "gum adjustment " right after the final treatment or it is something to worry about it?

I hope you will help me to understand better, thanks again for your knowledgeable advice

Best regards

Very helpful video, thank you! However, I am now second-guessing my planned procedure. I am scheduled to have all-on-4 using G-cam graphene implants. I can’t find much information about them, but I’m realizing that there’s no space between each of the “teeth” and I’m concerned that makes them look more fake. Do the ones with the fake gum have that space? You know- just enough to swish the water around in your mouth?
Also, if you have any insight on the g-cam graphene procedure, it would be so appreciated!

When you retract the lips, it does not look good. (FP3). It looks awful.

I hate fake gums. Anyone can tell you have denture just by looking at your gum.. I would rather go to a denture place you get 2 implants and pay for a fix denture removable. To me Is the same and is only 7thousand dollars.

For maintenance, how many times a year must you have the dentist remove the fixed arch with gums to clean them deeply and what is the cost of that annual maintenance? Thank you!

So I think it’s so great the way you explain stuff and I can now understand I want FP3 but can you have it on all on six upper and lower jaw and will any of the implants or abutments be on show??

What to do if you had plenty bone and too much was shaved off by the surgeon is there anyway to get bone and gums back or is it just lost forever.

Can you do mini implants for individual teeth? If extraction many year ago and no or little bone left what can be done?. Dentist says can't do anything.

That FP1 is shite. You'll spend close to the same price. That's crazy land..
