Показать описание
Salina Turda is an underground amusement park located in Transylvania just outside the city of Cluj-Napoca. This is an abandoned Salt Mine that has been turned into an amusement park for everyone to enjoy and is definitely one of the most popular tourist attractions in Romania. The Salina Turda Salt mine came about as early as 1075 and was then operational till 1932. We took a day trip from leaving Cluj-Napoca by bus and arriving in the town of Turda. It was a bit of a journey to get there but what an amazing site deep underground. After the long journey there and back did we find public transportation to the mines worth our time? Is the Salina Turda Salt Mine worth the cost? Join us as we take you on our journey to explore Turda Salina.

You were both very good-natured about your travel troubles. You experienced a memorable adventure (even if difficult) and that is never bad in my book. 😊👍

Any time you need help in Romania, just ask a young person. Most of us speak English pretty well and, like all Romanians, we love having tourists and will be uncomfortable levels of eager to help.

I would have given up after the first 30 min. and gone for a beer instead! HA! But glad you finally made it ... AND, ended with a beer!

OMG!!! It is literally 20 miles away from CLUJ...in other words, it is a short 25-30 min car ride. I used to drive there weekly and I was surprised that it took you guys 4 HOURS It is sooo sad that the system is still poorly managed and the info doesn't reach the tourists! I can just imagine how many people couldn't make it to the SALINA just because of the lack of information!!! However, KUDOS to you both for not giving up so easily!! Love your videos! KEEP IT UP!!! I am so sorry you had troubles with the transportation. And the bus station was just around the corner from the statue in front of the cinema. Of course, that bus would have still live you in the city center of Turda, but there are city buses an taxis to the salt mine. There is a tourist information center in the main square of Cluj, just by the bell monument in case you need further help.

Sorry to hear you had to go thru a lot of challenges to get to the Salt Mines. Thank you both for all the hard work and troubles you endure to make it easy for us viewers to make these trips easier. The mine looks awesome and surprised to find there were Rec areas for table tennis, pool table etc. Sure from what you covered a must see place. Cheers!

I don’t know why, but I somehow feel some part of guilt about the whole trouble you had to go through to visit the Turda salt mine. There was a consolation though, to see that it was a best part to all this … and that was the beer at the end. I am curious to know if Brian felt something good happening about the asthma related problem while you were down there in the mine. It is said that this is the best treatment for asthma problems and many types of allergies, also some heart affections and blood pressure.
I won’t ask what your favorite place was during your visit in Romania, because I have the feeling I somehow know already … and it makes me proud. That was a great video, just as all your videos are – thank you very much. I am also glad that if it will ever be the case, you can testify yourselves that you indeed forgot where you put the masks while you were on Romanian territory – I am sure you remember that was among the first things I told (wrote) you when you were on your way to Brasov. Explain that to people when you get back to the U.S. – it is a strong point to make. I’ll watch your video from Cluj now … I saw you already had it posted. Thanks again.
Cheers …

You deserve 2 beers each for all those steps you took that day. 7 miles...WOW...I have walked 200 steps today...total. lol

so what happened was you took a different bus, from a different location. The Fany bus is indeed 7 lei(at least it was last time i checked), and actually you were close to its station in the video but missed it. Also the salt mine has two entrances, if you take the first entrance it's just 700 meters walk from bus station in Turda. Sorry you had to go through such hustle, but sometimes information makes the whole difference.

You guys have great, informative videos. We're planning to retire soon. In your planning did you find an advantage of Shengen Country hopping over getting a Portuguese(for example) resident visa? I wanted to know your thoughts on both. Our budget will be about 3-4 thousand per month.
Thanks.

Romania is not really made for seeing it with public transport really. We were forced to do it once and it went ok but wayyyy to slow. By car is the best 😁
