I Touch Myself is a song made famous by Australian rock band Divinyls and has been covered by many artists over the years. The song was considered somewhat controversial in the United States due to its content; the songwriters also penned Madonna's Like a Virgin. This becomes more provocative when you have a teenage girls choir covering it. This is an early performance by Scala at the annual TMF Awards in Belgium back in 2002.

Below is an excerpt from an interview with Steven Kolacny (one of the two brothers and composer):

Q: The choice of The Divinyls "I Touch Myself" seems quite an abstract choice in the context of the album. Why did you choose this song in particular?

A: It was a bit like the joke of the CD. Often, people make jokes about the fact that 2 brothers are surrounded by 60 beautiful young women! I touch myself is the song for all those men in the audience, who just come to see girls (only 2.5 % of the Scala-audience!)

-- Lyrics --

I love myself
I want you to love me
When I'm feelin' down
I want you above me
I search myself
I want you to find me
I forget myself
I want you to remind me

I don't want anybody else
When I think about you
I touch myself
I don't want anybody else
Oh no, oh no, oh no

You're the one who makes me come running
You're the sun who makes me shine
When you're around I'm always laughing
I want to make you mine

I close my eyes
And see you before me
Think I would die
If you were to ignore me
A fool could see
Just how much I adore you
Get down on my knees
I'd do anything for you

I don't want anybody else
When I think about you
I touch myself
I don't want anybody else
Oh no, oh no, oh no [2x]

I don't want anybody else
When I think about you
I touch myself
Ohhh [4x]

I always loved this version because (besides it sounding really good) I imagined it being sung in a church. And now I find out it was sung by a bunch of teenage girls being conducted by a wiggly bald man. This is so fantastic.

I think it's pretty, hilarious, and FUN. The girls are obviously having a good time with a "joke" song.

The reason they're so good is because they are using Voldemort for a director. Cheat.

Their parents must have been so proud! XD

But honestly, I think they sang it beautifully. =3

What 'kids' are you people talking about? The Scala choir is 16-26.

Is it me or does this choir seem a little cultish?

Wtf, how did this turn from a choir video into a religious argument?

It's rather refreshing to hear honestly. You would think that men were the only ones who ever, well, touch themselves. They're not 10 year olds, its probably a fairly normal thing for teenage girls. Not to mention the choir is beautiful.

I have to say though, I find the conductor's rediculous amount of enthusiasm to be quite amusing.

I like the expression and the spirit.
Plus they are not artificial.
Nat King Cole said once
"live your song" and thats how it sounds and how they look. I like it
Thank You S&KB
