The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees Canadians fundamental and basic rights. Those rights are often engaged in a criminal case. It is crucial for any practising criminal lawyer not just to know what those rights are, but also to be familiar with the ways those rights are asserted and how breaches of them are litigated. Luckily at WiCCD we always aim to provide educational materials to our members and viewers!

In this episode of Who Cares?! We welcome a returning guest and WiCCD Ally Award winner, Nader Hasan, for a Q&A about the Charter.

Winner of many awards and recognitions, Nader Hasan is one of the leading lawyers in criminal law in Canada. He routinely appears before the Ontario Court of Appeal and Supreme Court of Canada on complex cases, often with a special focus on Charter arguments.

Nader has also written books and articles about Charter issues. Of note is his collaboration with Emond Publishing as a co-author of their book on Search and Seizure.

Given his extensive experience in Charter issues, Nader is the perfect guest to guide us about tactical issues as they relate to the Charter.

Watch this interview if you want to learn more about the Charter from one of Canada's leading minds on Charter litigation.

You can claim one hour of substantive CPD for viewing this episode.
