If you buy a Samsung Galaxy S24 or S24 Plus it may come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor or a Samsung Exynos 2400 processor, depending on your geographical region. So how do the processors compare? What are the CPU configurations? Do they have the same GPU? Let's find out.

Seems to me that Samsung are quietly admitting that that Exynos is an inferior product by keeping the Ultra as a Snapdragon only product

Samsung didn’t send you phones to test? You are one of the few people on YouTube that knows anything about how these things work.

If Samsung wants to use exynos they should use it in the fe editions of the phones

Our local YT channel (Zona IT - means IT Zone in romanian) got the 3 phones for several hours to test. For S24 ultra he got 7118 in one test and 7078 points in another in Geekbench 6 CPU test multicore with 2333 and 2287 for the single core tests.
The S24+, with Exynos, he got 6690 in multicore and 2107 in single core.
For the smaller S24, the results are 6516 and 2134.

And he said he didn't felt like either overheated in the benchmark, nor in the short gaming afterwards. And that, while weaker, this Exynos 2400 feels much improved and closer to the Snapdragon chip than in the previous generations.

(Edited for better, more info)

I always had a terrible battery drain on Exynos and will never buy a device with that chip again, hence I went for the Ultra.

It looks like TSMC’s node process allows higher clock speeds than Samsung’s and Samsung has to offset with more cores.

Fantastic, would love to have a detailed comparison soon.

Here we go again, with the inferior Exynos SoC being shoved down our throats if we don't live in the US... Samsung did a nice thing with the S23 series, but now they're almost back to the same crap... I'm surprised they didn't use the Exynos in the S24 Ultra, maybe they want people to buy that model. Anyway, let's wait for the "official" results, but I don't think those will impress anybody...

It’s also really interesting to see how they compare in terms of efficiency!

I really question the 1+2+3+4 setup. I feel like taking all the A720s and running them somewhere between those two clusters, perhaps 2.75ghz, would have been an easier and possibly more efficient 1+5+4 setup.

I wonder about the efficiency(Snapdragon is likely to be better) as that might have impact on battery life.

As ive stated before, the cores, the design, clock speed does play a difference but not as much as the manufacturing process does. Both the 888 and 8G1 that were fabbed by samsung had ridiculous heating and efficiency issues. And they were Snapdragon! Once qualcomm switched back over to TSMC all was good and well in the 8+G1 and above. Hopefully the 8G3FG keeps that same pattern.

That was quick! I hope the Exynos doesnt nerf the S24 a lot..

performance wise wont noticeable since its flagship anyway
thermal and battery life, we still need prove how good this new exynos
i really hope the dream team can deliver so make the competition better

the exynos version with tensor g4 will be the highlight of the upcoming google pixel 9 and 9pro hope they get an overclocked version of Samsung is using AMD instead of Mali for its graphics lets see how that fares would like to know more on that as well nice work👍

The best CPU config should actually be 3+2+3+2 imo
If my calculations are correct this has the best overall spacing for all wattages
Dimensity 9300 is really great for mid to high performance
But falters at low wattages,
This should bridge the gap

Also interesting to see if the Exynos is more more efficient (longer battery life)? That could be a worthwhile trade-off. I will skip this one anyway, I always buy the uneven version S1-S3-s5-S7-S9-S21 and now S23 since a few months 🙂. So my earliest replacement will be S25...

As a person from the "bane" regions, I was very happy to hear last year that Samsung were finally switching to Snapdragon globally - as a result a bough a S23, but year later they're again two steps back... I don't care about the AI crap - it's cool but how often will you really use it? I don't care about WiFi 7 - who has routers that support that anyway... All I want (and it's not just me) is a small, yet powerful phone with good battery life and in that regard I think they nailed it with the S23! I'm pretty sure that the battery life will suck on Exynos but Samsung doesn't seem to care. I'm not planning to change my phone, of course, but when I do, if Samsung is still deciding to punish me based on where I live, while paying the same amount of money and getting less, I'll simply skip their phones right away, no matter how much better their phone is... in US/Canada... Time will tell, but to me it seems that AGAIN, if you care about the long term support of your phone and you're not lucky enough to live in US/Canada, you have practically two options - a Pixel or an iPhone.

Honestly, I'd be okay with slightly lower clock speeds if the efficiency is okay. Eeking out another 5 to 10% isn't worth it if it means turning it into a pocket hand warmer. (Hopefully samsung has learned from their mistakes in this department)
