I always say you haven't truly experienced what is out there unless you get off the beaten path and explore the backroads.

Traveling the seemingly endless roads often in the middle of nowhere gives you time to think and reflect and slow down from the everyday grind that we often feel stuck in.

It is just you and the open road and is where you will find some of the most amazing and interesting places.

This is beautiful and sad at the same time. Your filming helps us feel the wind, smell the earth and summer wild greens. The lonely abandoned churches and homes create visions of former lives of extreme simplicity, hard work, and struggles, along with love, sacrifice, and beauty.

All of this footage is truly beautiful, in a solemn but also not dark way. The first church on the plain reminds me of Al Purdy's poem, "Wilderness Gothic". That wood stove in the church shows how well things were made back then AND not only made in Ottawa but the steel/iron was also made in Canada. Pretty few and far between nowadays if anything like that.

My mother was raised in some pretty desolate places in eastern Montana, USA, just South of the Canadian border. I remember her telling me how much she hated the wind. I never understood this because I was raised in very different terrain. Your explorations have brought home to me what she was talking about. I get it now.

That first church is still in pretty good shape considering the number of years it's been unused. The IOOF over the door of the school can also stand for "Independent Order of Foresters" a financial company that sells insurance. That old car is a great find. Thanks for the video, really enjoyed it.
