Good to see so many luke warm DR people. He really helped change my view on debt and and risk. After that, his platform is flat and repetitive. Money Guys are awesome for DR “graduates.”

Is Dave Ramsey arrogant? um yeah! Stupid on the other hand...um NO! I really hate when he calls other folks stupid and I don't always agree with the advice that he gives people. Dave provides great advice for those who are in deep debt and how to get out of it, no matter what it takes. The Money Guys are great for people who have outgrown needing the baby steps and are out of debt and have a bit of money to get on their investing journey no matter how much it is. Love the Money Guys!

LOL, notice they don’t touch the “arrogant” comment since it is correct. Rather, they stress that David is certainly not dumb which is obvious just due to the level of success he has had and the number of people has helped. But is Dave arrogant? Yes, yes very much so.

Dave helped/inspired me to pay off $47k in debt in 27 months. I don’t agree with everything he says but he’s not dumb.

A lot of people say, "Dave Ramsey is good for people who are bad with money. He is bad for people who are good with money."

Dave recommends actively managed funds because they ultimately benefit him personally. He is trying to get people into his advisor network (who work on commissions), and who in turn pay him to be in that network. There's a reason he's (almost) a billionaire.

I started listening to Dave and Roy Matlock on 99.7 when I first moved to nashville in the mid 90s. Total game changer for me! I never even heard of that way of thinking before. Here I set 26 years later, in a beautiful home on 9 acres, no debt and worth over 2 million.
Do I agree with everything he says? Nope. But the basics are sound. Y'all can slam him all you want, but what he says works.

I really like the point that Bo made about focus more on the savings rate early on instead of the rate of return. I’m 28 and a lot of my friends are looking for those big stock gains. I’m just focusing on putting away 20-25% into my 401k, Roth IRA and employee stock purchase plan. What Bo said reminds me to focus on paying myself first and worrying about the return a couple years down the road.

Dave Ramsey figured out that the vast majority of people are the ones who are stupid. Financially speaking. Dave created a way for people to look at their situations and get themselves into a mindset to manage their own way towards a financially successful life. And he made a sh!t-ton of money doing it. I applaud Dave for both!
The ones that start to grasp higher concepts of financial management move on. The ones that don't, don't move on. But they're in much better shape than they'd be if they never followed Dave at all.

Like you I'm sick of the name calling and insults over social media. That said Dave is very guilty too. He regularly calls people stupid. He gives good advice for people in financial crisis who need a " drill Sargent " approach. For people with some financial savvy his advice is marginal in my opinion.

I know what the listener was trying to say but he was extremely rude about it.

Stupid, no. Far from it. Tremendously biased due to his vested interests? Yes. Dave's primary value lies with his ability to help actual stupid people out of debt. Assuming stupidity isn't something you suffer from as a lifelong condition however, once you do get your head on straight and your finances in order, listening to Dave Ramsey, while likely not any kind of crippling mistake, will likely hinder you from maximizing value.

As an atheist and a true believer of low cost index funds, I don’t like DR. He may do good when it come to getting prople out of debt, but my worry is that once his ‘followers’ eventually have money to invest, they continue to blindly follow him and fall for his misleading views (and unrealistic expectations) on investing too.

I couldn’t care less what somebody called him. Dave’s a big boy that can handle it. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t care what I think of him either. He’s done a good job setting his kids up to maintain the wealth.

Ramsey is ALWAYS selling. His entire show is a vehicle to sell books, classes, advertising, "expert" advice, etc. Often, he lets what's best for Dave Ramsey get in the way of what's best for the listeners. Whenever DR gives advice, ask yourself "How is Ramsey benefitting from this advice?"

The funny thing is Dave calls people that all the time

Dave is good for people bad with money.

I read his book and listened to some of his advice on his YouTube channel and nothing is revolutionary to a majority of people who don't need an angry uncle type guy to tell them to save money you need to live below your means.

That's self explanatory to me and most people.
