The battery disconnect is a great piece of engineering. Great idea.

'M' in the product name is appreciated. That other company is evil by marketing to name mobile parts the same as desktop parts.

Its amazing just how powerful laptops have become after AMD finally started competing in this field couple years ago.

6:50 for advanced bios:

right ctrl + right shift + alt + F2 while in the bios

Good review, the only topic you forgot to touch is noise, because some laptops are as noisy as a car, though considering you said this is a cool machine you would assume that it is also relatively quiet, but still i feel like noise should have been pointed out separately.

There are some very good design choices here, like the reset switch and the thermals look good, but the lack of DRAM timing controls and the difficult access to components is a nuisance.
Also, can you take out the fans without removing the MB? Because having to remove the MB for cleaning the fin stacks is a huge hassle.

It's ok that you have had your first time. Some people have first time long after 18 years old. It's no shame! We support You!

6:51 theres a "cheat code" in most msi laptop bios that allows alot more tweaking including memory timings.

Flipping the motherboard is a pain in the ….. making upgrading awkward for the ram and NVME drive/s. The laptop itself thou is sleek and clean looking. The performance looks impressive! Thanks Roman for this great review!

Can't wait for Alder Lake mobiles with E-cores.

Good review Roman, have to agree, having the MB flipped like that is a royal PITA, they really are trying to discourage people from doing anything themselves with it. As someone who was a serious gamer, still don't understand why you reviewers are always going on about running games in high graphics settings to play competitively, that's the last thing I ever did.

I also have an MSI laptop with nearly the same exact specs but from a year ago. R7 4800H, RX5600M, 16GB DDR4, 1TB NVME SSD. The motherboard is NOT flipped around in mine, thank god.

i bought this laptop because of:
- using multiple virtual machines
- high battery life and lighter near hardware included laptops
when idle min 6watts per hour (RGB keyboard pulling +2watts)
10 hours web browsing is easy(on a *gaming* laptop).
- simple design

- no Type-c PD charging. i think for buying "laptop PD trigger".
100w can be enougt for so many my using scenarios. when gaming on wallpower, pulling this watts;
battery mode: 80watts
silent mode: 100watts
balanced: 150-160watts
Highest performance 180-190watts
Highest with Cooler Boost 210watts i see max.

(all is on the Active cooler pad)

i am software developer and mechatronical designer + little bit gamer.

I think the last mobile AMD GPU I used was a 7870m on an MXM card, bought one to replace a dead 600 series Nvidia card in an Alienware I bought to flip.

Maybe keyboard comes out first and more easily to get to ram and ssd?

This sounds like it could be an interesting Linux gaming laptop if the hardware isn't too proprietary, everything working out of the box would make this a great VM on the go machine.

I thought the battery disconnect was for e.g. gaming with the power adapter connected. Meanwhile the battery is not under charge also when possibly the battery is full. I.E. meaning that the battey is not in a state for being charged when it's full. Hence preserving battery life.

If that was the case, then it would make more sense to make the battery disconnect switch more reachable.

Putting the cat in the thumbnail is a smart strategy. Easy click. Also putting cat in the middle of the video.

I enjoyed you going over the CPU temps, when I got my current laptop (10300H) I was freaked out by it reaching 90, but apparently that's normal for H processors.
