Why did the United States annex Hawaii?

Hawaii is renowned for its vibrant tourism industry, delicious Kona coffee, and the world’s toughest Ironman triathlon.
It was the birthplace of Barrack Obama, Bruno Mars, and big wave surfing.
However, in the mid-nineteenth century, Hawaii wasn’t even a part of the United States.
At least, not officially.
That all changed in the late nineteenth century when America sought to annex Hawaii and claim it as an official territory.
Hawaii’s history goes back a lot further than that though.
Long before America became interested in acquiring Hawaii, the islands were settled by Polynesian explorers way back in the early fourth century.
From here the Hawaiian islands remained relatively stable, with a series of chiefdoms providing the main form of rule of the region.
In 1810 Hawaii became a recognized kingdom after King Kamehameha brought all the islands under his control.
Hawaii remained a kingdom for the next eighty years when demands for the United States to annex Hawaii became too strong to ignore.
But why?

There are some things missing from this video, but you also just get some things incorrect.

First of all, Hawaii was never annexed. US Public Law 103-150 recognized that a treaty of annexation was never ratified. A resolution is not the same as a treaty of annexation. Annexing another country using a resolution is pretty much the same as annexing another country with a bill. It violates the US Constitution, Article IV, Section 3.

Second, it should be clarified that the Hawaiian League was made up of mostly American descended Hawaiian Nationals (not ethnic Hawaiians). The Bayonet Constitution was *literally* signed at bayonet point, and was thusly named, not for its aggressive nature alone.

The "resolution" being referred to here is the "Newlands Resolution, " which is, as its name suggests a *resolution*, not a treaty. A treaty is an agreement between nations. A resolution is a law whose jurisdiction extends only to the territory of the nation itself. So, if Hawaii was not yet a US territory before the Newlands Resolution was passed, and resolutions only have jurisdiction within US territory, how would a resolution have any legal validity in acquiring Hawaii? Food for thought.

I feel so sorry for Hawaiians. Thank you "Mastering Knowledge", for posting this Video. Can you post more on the History of Hawai'i please?

The Invaders came to the Land and taught the Bible. When they started taking over, the Native People couldn't retaliate because of what they were being taught from the Bible. I can imagine that they would been told or came to the realisation of how they would've felt like they would be condemned if they reltaliated. It's an absolute deceit of the very Book that those Invaders held in the Hands.

The Ten Commandment speak about this. Thou shall not shall not steal. Also, thou shall not envy thy Neighbour. The Invaders clearly didn't give a Pineapple about any of that.

I was actually thinking about what happened to Hawai'i and its People, without even having watched these Videos on the History of Hawai'i and I had a Feeling that things like that happened. I checked the Videos and what I was thinking about is exactly what happened. It's messed up.

Hawai'i has been infected in so many ways. Infected with Sugar and everything else.

Do something along the lines of "How the US almost conquered North America" or "How North America was almost united". Mex-american war, war of 1812, the greenland purchase, Cuban and other nearby islands annexation etc. How it could've happened and what the country would look like today.

日本・ハワイの連邦化
日本・ハワイ間のホットライン敷設
日本主導によるアジア共同体の創設
カイウラニ王女と山階宮定麿王の縁談

In 1881, King Kalakaua, who came to Japan as the first country to visit around the world, proposed the federalization of Japan and Hawaii for the security of the Kingdom of Hawaii when he had an audience with Emperor Meiji. time is as follows.

Federalization of Japan and Hawaii
Laying a hotline between Japan and Hawaii
Creation of an Asian community led by Japan
Marriage between Princess Ka'iulani and King Yamashina Miyasada
Japanese immigrants of the same color to Hawaii (Hawaii at that time had a drastic decrease in the indigenous population due to the plague brought from Western Europe)

しかし、移民の促進に関しては問題がないと考え、1885年には日布移民条約が締結され、官製移民団が組織されるようになった。官製の移民は1885年から1894年まで続き、総計29, 339人がハワイに渡った。

In order to avoid conflict with the United States, the Japanese government politely declined these proposals with a letter containing the writing of "Good Friend Mutsuhito."(Mutsuhito is Emperor Meiji real name)
However, considering that there was no problem in promoting immigration, the Japan-Hawaii Immigration Treaty was signed in 1885, and a government-made immigrant group was formed. Government-made immigrants continued from 1885 to 1894, with a total of 29, 339 people traveling to Hawaii.

Please forgive my poor English.

Please study Hawaiian history before trying to teach it please. There is no treaty of annexation, a legal plebiscite never took place in 1959. The supreme court already ruled that Resolutions passed by congress has no effect outside of its own territory. The U.S. perpetuated a fraudulent annexation and continues and illegal occupation of Hawaii till today. The Hawaiians will one day rise up and take back their country.

A weak, vulnerable, DEFENSELESS place like Hawaij is going to be TAKEN OVER by a powerful nation because of LOCATION. RUSSIA already had a FORT on KAUAI. It was only a matter of time till they MADE THEIR MOVE. Same as HOKKAIDO, JAPAN. Japan made the move before Russia.
