6.0s are so underrated. People who buy into the bullshit have never truly had their hands on one. As a whole its the best diesel platform of all time

I put an s3r on my truck and the best piece of advice I have is install the bolts in the intake manifold while it’s still off of the truck on the bench using the intake gaskets to hold everything in place. Makes it so much easier and there’s no chance you can drop a bolt while doing it.

I went with the S3R intake, Icon aluminum heads from KDD, 1.5 turbo from KC Turbos, stage 1 cam from River City, new FoMoCo lifters, oil cooler, HPOP, LPOP, water pump, fan switch, FICUM. Switched to CAT ELC red and a coolant filter from KDD. It's a 2004 and I dumped all that air damper crap up top and it now looks like a 2005. Oh yeah, tunes from Warren. It's a beast now. Pulling a gooseneck with a 1973 Plymouth Roardrunner thru the Ozarks in 95 degree + never got more than a 8 degree delta except when the ECT drops quickly on downgrades - EOT doesn't drop as quickly. EGT's under 1100 max. Calculated 22 MPG aveage empty at 70 MPH (can't afford to fix the overhead computer now!) Whistles like an old Kenworth! 186K miles on the clock - all the crosshatching on the cylinder walls was still factory new looking. Run Rotella T6, 5W-40 and I threw in some Archoil on the 1st change. Didn't lift the cab - pulled out the front.

I installed the S3 on my 6.0. I also did the BPD oil cooler relocate. I had no issues whatsoever. Cody I really enjoy your videos. Great work. I like the Ford 6.0 so much I just purchased a 05 KR with 45k miles. Gonna do the same to it as my last. I have your uppipes on my previous. All going geat with them. I pulled over 17k 4000 miles last spring and everything kept in check. Again. good job.

Have that same one on my truck. After doing it I noticed the truck just pulls harder. I also noticed even on the 150 hp tune with stock turbo and stock injectors I get a teeny puff of smoke right as the turbo builds and then it's just clean hard power. Love that damn truck.

I've got a 2006 6.0 lariat that I've had since new. Truck is completely stock other than a ficm I replaced about 2 years ago.
As others have mentioned, these truck engines are phenomenal if you know how to maintain them. You have to use motorcraft parts, 5000 oil change with rotella and fuel filter changes every 10, 000. Mix in a coolant flush every other summer and you can get 400, 000 miles out of them. I'm at 205000 miles and still running strong

I believe I was that customer 2 weeks prior. I also purchased mine from kc but I contacted odawgs directly and they told me there was no way it was a issue with there product that “we sell to many with no problems for it to be a issue on our side” lol good to see after all it wasn’t something I did. I also had to grind mine and have had 5 sled pulls with no issues so far.

after watching this video, I am not comfortable with spending 950 US dollars for something that may cause further damage to my vehicle. I really was thinking of doing this however with what I am seeing... not yet.. not until they fix this for sure. thank you for enlightening us on this issue... saved many of us a lot of headaches, time and money (repairs).

New subscribers. You build yourself an awesome pulling truck. Would it be possible to go over all the mods you did on this truck? Keep up the good work 👍👍👍

I just put mine on and haven't driven the truck much. Thanks for the heads up, I'm going to check my clearance now! Also, almost impossible to tell until its seated due to the fact you have to compress that giant coolant donut with the manifold. I also had to grind a small amount off the lower ear of my alternator and shim the alternator up about .075" to clear an access plug.

I was super excited to perform this upgrade to my 6.0 Exc, but that block and heads have both been decked on mine. Thanks for taking the time to discuss what you learned with KC Turbos and ODawg. Gives me something to consider regarding what I may or may not be willing to bite off. Great video and presentation.

Someday maybe! lol I've alway's wanted to upgrade my intake either buy an Odowg or try cutting open and porting out one of my half dozen stock intakes kickin around my garage. Just wonder if my slightly used 250k valve springs can take all that extra flow lol

Had the same idler pulley problem. Never had my heads decked, they are stock. Odawgs needs to make a change or it will keep happening. It’s a lot of work to get that far into the project only to find this issue. That said, I solved the problem by buying a different pulley that had a smaller diameter. It is a Gates 36164 and still works with my stock belt. I’m close to the end of the tensioner, but the belt is old, so I’m going to try a new stock belt as well as a shorter one to see which works best to solve the problem. Come on ODawgs, get this problem fixed.

I thought the manifold came with a metal tube that you slide in the hole first and then the bolt so there isn't a chance of dropping into the engine? Thanks
