Great double reaction - the significance of the Legend S performance only hits us because we know what happened afterwards.
Yes it was the first time Yui was absent, but they had no idea she would not be back - they held her place waiting for her hoped for and expected return for another 8 or 9 months after this before she announced she was still not fully recovered and had decided she would leave.
Likewise nobody had any clue this would be the last time Mikio would be with them before his tragic accident just 2 or 3 weeks later.

They pulled out all the stops, no expense spared, for Su's 20th birthday celebration in her home town Hiroshima with the live piano and strings (the only time I can think of where they have had those) and this is the definitive performance of this song.

They played an intro video before this performance as well which referenced the Hiroshima bomb and the black acid rain that fell afterwards and that only added to the emotion.

The video editing is also very good - it is not a coincidence that as Su sings the line "We shall never meet again, but I want to not forget you for ever" the camera focuses on Mikio Fujioka (RIP).

'No Rain, No Rainbow' has been performed live just 7 times. Legend 1999 June 2013, Budokan Black Night March 2014, Tokyo Dome 2016, both nights at Legend S December 2017 and two of the 10 Budokan shows in 2021. Those last two performances also had an intro video with a story about a piano (unfortunately the time stamp you were given just missed showing that), but it added to the fact that Su also sat at (and possibly played) the piano midway though the song before a significant (I think 17 second?) break in complete darkness and silence.

Su was not entirely happy with her performance the first time they performed this song at the Legend 1999 concert in June 2013. She felt she was concentrating more on hitting the notes and singing the right lyrics and that she didn't have the life experience to do the song the emotional justice.
It was for this reason that she decided she wasn't ready to record the song for the first album as well. Only when she saw people crying in the audience at a later performance did she realise she could effect people emotionally with her voice and only then did she agree to record the song - it was on the second album.

The song itself is an homage to or inspired by X Japan's classic 'Endless Rain'.

This song played during the last goodbye to my brother. Thanks to him, I was able to meet Babymetal and the world of Japanese rock. It is impossible not to feel the same pain once again and hold back tears. Thanks for this reaction, Kitsune. "Amore" Su's song, which you need to see now. See you. 🤟🦊🇯🇵❤️👑🌸

I know man, this happened to me, when I discovered them a year and a half ago, I blubbered on everyone of their ballads, and laughed of excitement to myself for other songs. Now they are my most favourite band.

This one breaks everyone even more if you know the Stories behind. Yui, Mikio...2018 was the hardest Year of BABYMETAL they even discussed to quit. Gladly they dont.
The Performance at Legend S is just not from this World, i never saw Suzuka so vulnerable. The Emotion she can project just pulls on the Heartstrings.
Your not too emotional, im tearing up everytime i hear No Rain, No Rainbow or Shine...
These Ladies are harder than Steel, BABYMETAL forever!

In barely a month, you've figured out how Babymetal has captured so many of us over the past 10 years. They go from silly kiddie pop to emotional and spiritual songs way beyond their ages. It's a roller coaster ride. The talent and commitment they have is beyond normal performers. Su and the entire workings of the franchise are unique. nothing compares.

Great reaction, it shows why you and your channel are resonating with so many fans.
It's amazing how you can go from not knowing who someone is, to mourning them in such a short space of time isn't it. I don't think any fan has actually processed Mikio's loss properly, we have just got around to accepting it happened. At least he is loved by many people, and his talent and performances will be immortalised and be an inspiration for people in the future. A great performance from Su creats huge emotion anyway, but with the added context it's almost impossible not to shed a tear.

I am a Japanese fan who has been a dedicated BABYMETAL fan for over 10 years, since the fall of 2014.
The loss of Mikio Fujioka and YUIMETAL was a big shock for Japanese fans.
I attended the first day of the LEGEND-S concert.
I still remember how shocked I was to hear the news of YUIMETAL's absence just before the concert.
So even now it is a little hard for me to watch the video of LEGEND-S.
I am proud of the fact that many fans (mates) were united to cover YUIMETAL's absence at the live that day.
Even though you only recently found out about BABYMETAL's existence, I thank you for such a wonderful reaction.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 We are moved by this song because we are human beings. I am Japanese but my nationality and literacy do not have distinct advantages to feel the emotion stirred by Su-Metal and Kamis. Su's voice and Kami's guitar sound resonate with the bones in my whole body.
I saw the version at Budokan in 2021 (on both April 14 &15) with Su's matured voice. As an eyewitness of the 2021 shows at the venue, I can tell you that it was literally heartbreaking and made me forget to breathe. The 2017 version, however, may be still the best for me although BM always say "the latest is the best". It may be so because of the last appearance of Mikio (RIP) with BABYMETAL. 😢
ps. I went to see a Mikio tribute concert on Jan.19, this year (MLG Avengers) where I saw BOH, Ohmura, Hideki and Isao playing live there.

Su usually don’t show emotion on stage, but this is one of the two rare times that it can be argued that she broke. Nonetheless, one attribute of Su’s vocal skills is her ability to reflect emotion in her songs.

As you realized, this was Mikio Fujioka's last appearance with BABYMETAL.
They have a close-up on him during this part:
"Nidoto ae-nai kedo, wasure-naide itai yo."
(We shall never meet again, but I want not to forget you forever.)
Mikio passed away on January 5th, 2018, before the video was released.
In this footage, Su was about to turn 20, the traditional age of majority (adulthood) in Japan.
Yui was supposed to perform at this concert, but was unable to appear because of unspecified health reasons.
The introduction just before this song refers to to the bombing of Hiroshima, Su's home prefecture, and the location of the two 'LEGEND S - BAPTISM XX' concerts.
This intro was added for these shows.
That doesn't mean the song was originally written to be about those events, just that they were drawing a connection for these two special concerts in Su's home prefecture of Hiroshima)
The last line of this song is:
"An endless rain fills my heart, forever."
That seems like a clear reference to the X-Japan's 'Endless Rain'.
The actual music reminds me more of the X-Japan song 'Silent Jealousy'.

This song along with in a sense of speaking, are probably the 2 heaviest songs she sings.
The weight and the power behind them....and the power of Su's voice....

I have been listening to BABYMETAL for about a year. The depth of Su’s voice, the power of the arrangements and the passion of everyone concerned, brings me to tears still. I don’t care. Music is really only emotion and, they have a shit-load of it. Nice human reaction Shade. 😢🥃🎸🥹

This has been one of my fav BM songs since I first heard it at the Budokan shows in 2014. For me this song shows how emotionally powerful Su can be as well as showing some sort of vulnerability as opposed to her usual powerful and demanding stage presence.

This is my favorite solo song by Suzuka. It will make me cry every time if I let my feelings go. You can hear the longing and sadness in her voice and on her face. Thank you for reacting to it.

The tearing up creates bags beneath her eyes, so it makes her look older. And I think she is also considering the possibility that Yui wasn't coming back since this was the first show she was absent from. Sometimes Su keeps alot inside her to be strong for the group. The story of what happened at MIkio's funeral was very telling how much Su keeps her emotions inside and to be strong for Yui and Moa.

As for the Budokan performance, it was done a year after lockdown, so it also is a homage to all those who lost their lives.
