For real tho, every time someone new comes on screen, my mom asks who it is-

Can comfirm. I have shown my mom some anime (A variety of stuff too, Cells At Work, My Roommate is a Cat, Violet Evergarden, the first episode of To Your Eternity) and she loved those right off the bat. But for western animation it takes more convincing for her to try it *and* there's very little patience for certain kinds of mysteries. Not in a "They should reveal this already" kind of way more of a "I don't expect them to reveal this" kind of way where she asks a question the show *wants* you to ask and is surprised when I tell her the answer will be a spoiler. She does not respond this way to live action shows and movies.
