How to install Oracle SQL Developer in Windows 7 - Database Tutorial 49 - Oracle DBA tutorial. This video explains about 'How to install Oracle SQL Developer in Windows 7

The concept is as follows:

Download the SQL Developer Software from Oracle's website
You would need to have an account with Oracle.
If you do not have one, you can create one for free.
After the download, install it.
Install it in any folder that you prefer.
During the installation, it will ask for the location of your JDK (Java Development Kit) files
Generally you will find the JDK files under a folder that starts with JDK.
And that folder will be in C:\Program Files\Java

If you do not have one, follow the method explained in the video to download and install JDK
Once the installation of JDK is complete, then complete the SQL Developer installation too.

For example, in this video, ORACLE_HOME is C:\app\sam\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1
So, I went to C:\app\sam\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\NETWORK\ADMIN

I copied them to C:\Users\sam\Downloads\Oracle 11g\sqldeveloper64-3.2.20.09.87-no-jre\sqldeveloper folder, where I have installed SQL Developer.

Stay in the folder, C:\Users\sam\Downloads\Oracle 11g\sqldeveloper64-3.2.20.09.87-no-jre\sqldeveloper.

This will open SQL Developer application.

Hi I have small problem when logging into schema in sql developer. The following error shows up.

An error was encountered performing the requested operation.

Io Error: The network adaptar could not establish the connection.

Vendor Code 17002

This error shows only when internet is not connected and when internet is connected it log in perfect.

Plz can some 1 help step by step how to rectify this.

I followed all your sets, but can't connect to the database.  For example what is the connection name, username, password and the port number.. I'm going to assume the password and the username is the same name when setting up the account. I would be nice if you provide that information when setting up the connection.

The Sql developer tool whilw testing the connection says invalid username/password. I don't remember my credentials now. How can i fix this issue?

hello Sir, i installed oracle SQl developer on windows 7 home premium and jdk1.6.0_45. i get the error network adaptor could not establish the connection. I cannot find the tnsnames.ora file. Where should it be? In the tutorial it said the tnsnames.ora is under the folder. I do not have that when i installed it.

Hi Sam, Nice work you had put up here. Very helpful. Got a question. I installed oracle 12c. however, the TNSname.ora did not get created. has only a sample folder and sqlnet.ora file. That's it. no TNSname.ora or other files as shown on your screen are available. Do you know what might have gone wrong?

Mr. Sam, Can you please tell me how to get those .ora files..I did exactly what you have done and looks like i don't have those .ora file in my network folder under dbhome. Is there any way i can download those files only and then copy and past them to the folder where necessary? By the way, your tutorial is awesome.!!

Dear Sam.. I followed all the steps as mentioned by you and installed oracle 11g first which completed fine. Then after i installed the SQL Developer and was creating a "New Connection", the following error is coming: Status: Failure: Test Failed: ORA 010117: invalid username/password; login denied". I gave the Connection Type and Network Alias correctly, but still facing this issue. Can you please help?

At 7:51 min of this video you say the file tnsnames, ora got created when you created database. How to create this database? Is there any video of this by you. Please provide the link.
