Orbital refueling /refilling is critical like thousands of other critical things necessary to get to Mars. However engineers are not loosing sleep over it because they have already mastered the technology for an even more difficult in orbit transfer of substance. That is the docking mechanism which transfers gas and even whole humans. Orbital refueling is relatively easier with much lower cross section and uniformity of the transfering fluid.

I suggest a one way trip to Mars..we'll worry about the getting there and to keep the one person who will physically preform and touch and describe it all a live for as long possible..Maybe send some cool rocks back ..this person won't be coming back ..I will do it ..

Yeah that's just as important but specifically only for Mars and other extra Earth destinations

but I would argue the heat shield is very important

because if it can't come down from space intact.
what is the point of orbital refueling if it just blows up in Mars atmospheric entry?
