The Support Center for Microsystems Education is an NSF-funded program that promotes education regarding microelectronic and mechanical systems (MEMS). BioMEMS are technologies that utilize MEMS devices for life science applications.
One powerful technology that allows scientists to study the activity of multiple genes simultaneously, and therefore gain insight into complex biological phenomena (including disease processes) is the DNA microarray.
