I would still give anything to have a server or servers that allowed you to progress from Vanilla -> TBC -> Wrath at your own leisure. Play through vanilla collecting and accomplishing everything I wish to do. Click a button and the changes implemented in TBC would take effect. Play through TBC collecting and accomplishing everything I wish to do. Click a button and the changes implemented in Wrath would take effect. Play through Wrath collecting and accomplishing everything I wish to do. Lots of rinsing and repeating. Would happily pay a much higher monthly subscription for such an option.

Everquest is also now an archaic nightmare of 15 concurrent expansion servers. Not fun

One easy line to draw for Classic is whenever they dumbed down the talent trees to the 3 choices per. The modern LFG\LFR is a good line too.

I often wonder if the "version for everyone" approach would be as effective as going all in on a Classic+, with all brand new content and expansions that can be monetized along the way

Unfortunately the modern clients don't run well on my laptop and I'm pretty much forced to play on private servers, which is odd because a couple years ago I played Shadowlands with no issue and now I can't even run blizzard's classic servers without unplayable lag

I guess it's not that odd, I can tell by looking at it that the system requirements have gone up which tells me at some point they overhauled the clients, just kinda sucks

On the plus side, fresh vanilla server launching tomorrow (everlook starfall)

I think what this will lead to is that after the World Soul Saga, Blizzard will 'reset' the entire world but in an even more drastic way than Cataclysm. Reality breaks down and Azeroth is made a new. Each zone much bigger and more detailed than the original. But Blizzard can't afford to make that a one-time expansion, they need its zones to remain evergreen, which is why they're currently experimenting with Season of Discovery and expansion remixes to get a feel for how to make the content more than a place you rush through to get into a raid dungeon.

Well it's interesting because when they brought Holly Longdale onto the team I kind of expected a TLE type thing. Then classic gets rolling but the numbers currently in Cata Classic are bad. Like SOD got consolidated down to two US servers. I mean in the technical sense some of the other servers still exist but you know... Anyway SOD as much as people have complained has more population than Cata Classic and Wrath really dropped off at the end. Yet somehow in EQ and even EQ they can keep releasing a new TLE and people play (no clue on numbers, but since they keep doing it apparently enough). I was never into TLE because to me the reason you want "classic" is that you dislike modern/live and eventually on TLE you just end up back at the version you don't like.

As opposed to games that just released actual classic versions. My current SOD guild just voted to not play phase 6 so I was going to play Cata... my server has less than 100 people on it. So I just uninstalled instead.

My boi is right on here. Rather than hate the “lack of content” and raid log, i swap between SoD, Cata, MoP remix, Retail, and even D4. And Helldivers2 😂

Meanwhile, some friends only play retail. Some only retail/cata. And one friend only plays SoD. And i can hang out with all of them on the same sub. 👍

Only bad thing about 'Classic' Classic is that you don't find Alliance mofos to kill in the world anymore. Every server is either 99.99% Horde or Alliance.

I doubt MOP classic will happen because everyone even classic players are playing remix so because it’s so recent I don’t think so. And then there is WOD so might as well just stop after cata.

Came back to sod from og cata. That led me to cata classic and now retail. Idk what to do but retail is depressing. I want retail but with the classic community. Playing sod I met some of the worst and some of the almost worst people in 20 years of gaming. It was still incredible how people wait for you in dungeons and it doesn’t feel so rushed.

Alright let me hop in here real quick. I am a classic only player. I loved WoTLK, Hardcore, and regular Classic. Also, I freaking loved Cata when it released way back in the day. But it's not classic to me. Classic to me is the closing of the Warcraft series. When the lore was engaged in homaging the story masterpiece of that world. The world of Warcraft. Cata revamped everything taking the hardcore elements of WoTLK, TBC, & Vanilla then just giving everything that modern style. ESO & FFXIV were just around the corner at that time. In my opinion as much as I love Cata it is simply just not classic. Deathwing destroys the original maps. It has updated play, graphics, and design. To me it's just not classic whatsoever. The journey melted away with the world. I think Blizzard should do this. Leave Vanilla Classic where it is. Truly hit the mark with that. Then create TBC classic and WoTLK classic servers separate as well. Bring back fighting Illidan and going through the portal a highlight of your journey. Then WoTLK is the ribbon for classic Warcraft story. No character transfers either. I know people want to play it the expansion with their character already leveled. But you're going to make the game a stagnant end game experience from the beginning. No fresh characters to play with. Everyone will be obsessed with bringing those toons over. I say bite the bullet. Start fresh characters on TBC & Wrath. That way the classic experience is in 3 parts with 3 journeys. Also, I would LOVE if they went with their original idea. Demon Hunters and Death Knights were supposed to be vanilla classes. So I say hold a poll on including Demon Hunters in TBC classic. Because come one. Warglaives on a DH? Bro. That's hard to argue with. They are end game weapons for people but they are from the original DH. I just think that would be absolutely ASTOUNDING. Is this a lot? YES. But we currently have 5 split player bases already. SoD, Cata, Hardcore, Retail, and Vanilla. So I say give retail the modern love it deserves. Highlight Cata and MoP. Let people play the content and raids again each year. Advancing through the years like we already did. Blizzard we love WoW. We simply just do. But for me retail is not for me. I will stick to the classic because it doesn't need changed. Skyrim and Oblivion are still played to this day. With nothing new needing to be added to be great. Some games are perfect the way they are. But only time shows us that. Thank you for reading my book. Hope people agree and disagree

As someone who only went back to 'Classic Servers' for the sole reason to be able to play on a legitimate dedicated PVP server, - the reality hit in after they kept releasing the expansions, that eventually they will get to the point of Battle For Azeroth, and they will more than likely put amd end to PVP servers, again..

With that in the back of my mind, whats the point??
