How to Swim With Leopard Sharks in La Jolla, California

Показать описание
La Jolla Beach is one of our favorite beaches in San Diego. Not only it is such a gorgeous beach, but this place is also home to the largest gathering of leopard sharks in the world. Every year, thousands of leopard sharks make their way to the warm, shallow water of La Jolla Shores for the breeding season. These leopard sharks are beautiful and harmless. This means you can actually swim, snorkel or dive with them. Swimming with these leopard sharks is such an amazing and unconventional way to experience the beautiful coastline of San Diego.

Saw a bunch today, got the tips from the lifeguard to go down next to the marine room. Low visibility though, was easier to see them while being outside the water than in.

Do you have to swim over your head or is it shallow the whole way out?

They are soo beautiful and such graceful sharks but personally I think the water looks very murky...but then again water visability is much more clear & blue here in Hawaii but I have never seen a Leopard Shark here! I swam with Tiger Sharks, Blue Sharks, Lemons, white & Black tips but it would be amazing to swim with Leopard Sharks!! We have Mantas here too not really Sting Rays but, I'd be more scared of the rays & their barbs! They seem to enjoy shallow water unlike tigers! I perfer the deeper depths. Awesome video!! 🦈✨🙏🌊🧜‍♀️👍

Hi great video? What do you recommend with snorkeling gear? Rent nearby? Purchase?

Do you need to be with a snorkeling tour, i read on some websites that they do tours in some coves. Can i snorkel here without a tour or guide? Thank you

Went down there today pretty much the exact same location and saw NOTHING FOR 2 HOURS. My son said he might have glimpsed a shark tail for a split second. Right when I was about to give up, I saw a dark shape in the water and was treated to a small seal swimming close. My lone wildlife sighting for the day.

is there a way to check what the visibility will be like?

What day was this footage taken? I went today and it was nice and low and pretty good visibility but didn't see any leopard sharks. I know the water was warmer a few weeks ago when I was gone so not sure if they were out more then.

La jolla shores witness 300 leopards year 1992

their numbers are dropping drastically because of fisherman catching them and too people harassing them at the shores. They need to close the beach during their mating season
