Those opaque polysleeves are blown away completely by Blake sleeves which are super clear and make your LPs look like they’re shrinkwrapped. Gorgeous they are. the record behind the album sleeve is advised for mailing so it doesn’t split the card seams in transportation BUT storing them like that at home, especially in a thin poly sleeve, leaves the playing surface less protected when sliding in adjacent records back and forth. Fine if they’re just for decoration and to look if you don’t mind listening to scratched records. The outer sleeve has been used for DECADES to contain the discs as well as inner sleeves. I’d resort to the storage outside the outer sleeve idea for mailing only. Not home storage.

Finally a video giving me links to innersleeves that dont cost as much as a record itself (pack of 50) I hate paper sleeves with a passion and have been looking for decent plastic sleeves that will fit nicley in the album covers without having to shimmy them in

Thanks for the Ikea shelving idea !
The 16 opening unit is $109 US Dollars, it has 16, 13" square openings, that will hold a lot of records ! weight load for each shelf is 29 lbs too.
And my wife will be thrilled to go shop at Ikea, one of her favorite places to shop.

Sleeve City and Bags Unlimited - two great companies and products. I also wipe down the outer jackets with Lysol wipes if the records are used - amazing how dirty they really get.

I also clean my new acquisitions with my solution and a Discwasher brush (Great minds think alike).

Big fan of the Expedit Line. I've bought a couple off of Craigslist, but they're getting more rare and expensive (and real estate in the family room is at a premium).

I may switch the the Kallax Line, but then would have to replace what I already own.

I replace my inner sleeves with the Mo-Fi sleeves from Sleeve City, but found that the exterior poly bags took up too much space - 62 in each Expedit Cubby vis-a-vis 72 without (real estate is at a premium) in the Expedits. While this may cause more jacket wear over the long run, I'm the one handling the albums 99.9 times out of 100, and I can do so with a minimum of deterioration.

Excellent video.

Cheers.

Well done Frank, informative as usual! I use the same kind of outer sleeves for my records, only instead of loading them from the top, I load them from the side, that way the record just slides out, yet still protected from dust by the inner sleeve, lol! Although I am starting to consider loading them from the top, as I've noticed a lot of collectors doing it this way.... I also sort my records alphabetically by artists, followed by soundtracks, lol! I don't have dividers though, so thanks for the link! Until next Sunday, have a great week Frank, and take care! -Jex

Hi Frank, I think we do things pretty similarly, I also use an Excel spreadsheet and the IKEA shelf units. Interesting tip about the outer sleeves (I however keep my records stored in their jacket not in back of it), I sleeve my records with the opening of the bag & jacket lined up for easier access, however putting it back in the shelves causes the sleeve to bubble outward which is annoying and requires some fiddling to fix. Anyway probably nerding out myself here, good ideas about the shelf and dish holder, I may try that last myself for the new arrivals (thus freeing precious shelf space for more records, ha!). Cheers.

Hey dude, hello from a transplanted Canuck way down here in south Alabama.Just subscribed and love your videos and links.Just a tip I use a plastic dish tray and pan I got at the dollar store when I'm cleaning my records.I can line up about a dozen or so and let them air dry after I wipe them down. The tray has to have the straight slots at the bottom so the albums stand up perfectly.

I keep my records in the back of my records too, but I use the resealable sleeves, as dust will still get in the way you store yours.

Pretty cool stuff, Frank! I like how all the Rush reissues come in plastic sleeves like the one I showed from the Moving Pictures reissue. As for storage, I have nothing that's very good. I just have my two albums stand on top of my Yamaha PSR-82 keyboard leaning against the wall. I will buy a carry case someday so I have better storage and so I can buy more albums. Especially the Rush reisses!

Hi Frank,
Great video buddy, I wondered about your wall shelves and who they were from.
I Picked up a file rack for a desk top from an office store that holds around 24 albums or so for the ones I play alot. A dish rack, I like that idea too. Thanks for sharing your storage tips. Take care Fronk and have a great up comming week. Jeff

Hey Frank. Couple quick questions about the dividers. Which of the 3 styles that Bags Unlimited offers are you using specifically, and how did you get the artist label printed? I may just buy the dividers and get some stickers from Michaels, but your labeling has me intrigued.
