Bach had a very rich family of musicians. His legacy has enriched lives for over 300 years.

His music, glorified God. It might be wise to choose other historical figures to make this argument.

Having a still existing legacy without having kids speaks to the value of their ideas.

This is a non-artist's narrow, conformist, tribalistic argument. He speaks as if profound art and ideas are like a family pizza shop or expensive heirlooms.

Aristotle had kids, that’s why he wrote nicomachean ethics

The ideas, art and beauty they created were children for them. They put their love, grief, and everything they had into it. Even if they had children, people wouldn't remember them unless the children created something just as great. I love my children with all my heart but sometimes wish I were leaving something that the world would remember and enjoy long after I'm gone. I'm 51, have two sons in their mid twenties and no grandkids yet. Neither of my sons are in long term relationships either so who knows when I will have any grandchildren. It's just my husband and my two boys but I would have loved to have had a big family.

That's why Jesus has the greatest legacy

You can be the Pinnacle of what you do or you can have a family you can't do both. His argument is stupid.

Sounds like he is actually making an argument that having kids is overrated. Great people are great, noone really cares about their great grandchildren unless they make something of themselves.

Their legacy was the product of their time. Women and children were seen as irrelevant while the man's actual works was seen as the most relevant part of the story. Even in modern times we can see key details of people vanish or be changed with time. Now image the process going on for 200 years or more where historians pluck data they think is relevant and change or drop things they don't like.

Their children are their works that brought humanity forward.

Fruits are not always physical people though that is one aspect.

If every man would leave a family behind the the world would get overpopulated and the value of life will decrease as it is happening now. A great genius is a great genius because of his legacy.

Jews will tell you they invented water. I thank God every day I'm not one.

I respectfully don't see any point here.
Their legacy imparted many people and in thousands of years their philosophy and contributions to the world stands. Some of these careers paths take people away from family as they are stuck in laboratories doing research, some lost their families some never married. We should be happy they made such sacrifices and they left the world a better place.

It's easier to have a legacy there are so few people in the world at the time to even do anything, but survive and bang.

Also, William Shakespeare had three children—Susanna, and twins Hamnet and Judith—with his wife Anne Hathaway, as recorded in parish documents from Stratford-upon-Avon.

Aristotle had a son named Nicomachus, as evidenced by his naming of the Nicomachean Ethics after him, and ancient sources like Diogenes Laërtius confirm that Aristotle had children, including Nicomachus and a daughter named Pythias.

Some of us haven’t the chance to have children unfortunately, I never married, I’d like to have children, but not even adopted. Bach had a large family, although along time there’s no any Bach descendants today, Rembrandt had a son, but I ignore if he had offspring. Their music for instance is a great legacy for all us.
Those we don’t have any family can’t change how our personal story was and we can’t do anything about it.

Yes Abraham pbuh actually diecovered God through using his rationalism. He looked at creation and tried to figure who he was. He thought it was the sun, the moon etc. But ultimately he realized he is beyond the material world but his presence is everywhere and he sets the planets in motion.

Bach had 20 children, a few of which went on to be brilliant composers, and one of whom invented the standard scale fingering used by the vast majority of pianists today

Who knows, they personally may not have wanted or even known but for some reason magic happens.
