REST, or REpresentational State Transfer, is an architectural style for providing standards between computer systems on the web, making it easier for systems to communicate.

Typically, we send HTTP requests to an URL defined in our REST API that would perform a given task for us or return a certain bit of data. Most APIs these days would return a response to us in the form of JSON.
